Jake slammed the door behind him and threw the keys on the kitchen counter, making you jump. He never behaved like this, so it was a shock when he did so. Throughout the entire drive back home heâd been silent, which wasnât unusual for him but under the circumstances you knew it was a different kind of silence. One that kept you on the edge of your seat. You fucked up. You knew that. And Jake wasnât the type to get pissed off, but thatâs exactly what you did to him tonight. You turned around and looked into his eyes-they were dark.
You werenât the type to get plastered during a party but this time you were having a really good time, all the Greta guys were there with their girlfriends, the music was good and you decided to go out on the dancefloor with Jita and MacKenzie. The three of you were having a great time with some old Rihanna song playing in the background, you already having a drink or two. You saw Jake in the booth, with the guys, eyeing you from his seat, a (non-alcoholic, since heâd be the one driving both of you back) beer in his hand, a small smile playing on the edge of his lips. He looked particularly good tonight- he had on his black jeans, a sleeveless Church of Rock and Roll shirt and a collection of necklaces resting on his collarbones. He looked absolutely breath-taking. As always. You sauntered up to him, breathless and thirsty- âWanna come dance with me?â-you gently hooked your fingers on the edge of his shirt, pulling him towards you. He rested his hands on your hips and squeezed them, âNah, you go and have fun. Iâll stay with the guysâ. You kissed his cheek and ran back out on the dancefloor. After about 20 minutes you went to get a drink with the girls-
âHey, can I buy you a drink?â-a tall, blonde man smiled down lazily at you.
âAh thanks, Iâm getting mine in a sec, actuallyâ- you smiled politely, motioning towards the bar.
âAlright, sure...Hey, I love your tattooâ, he nodded at your collarbone.
âThanks, -you grinned-â it's a Sylvia Plath novel, âThe Bell Jarâ? -you sipped your drink, looking around. Jake met your eyes and smiled a little but kept his eyes on the man in front of you.
âI have this one. Itâs an inside joke with my brotherâ- he rolled up his sleeve, you chuckled reading the silly quote and traced the tattoo with your fingers-â I like itâ.

You looked up, her sweet smile sending a shiver down your spine.
âJake, whatâs up? -â Danny followed your eyes-â Dude, come on, you know Y/N would never-â
âI know. I just donât like that guy being so close to her. Look at him, all smiles and shit,â-Jake growled.
âSheâs with you, dumbass. You gotta chillâ, -Sam laughed. You knew sheâd never do anything to hurt you. She was everything youâd wanted in a partner: she was gorgeous, had the best laugh and you loved the way sheâd rock out to karaoke like she didnât care about her voice but most of all- she cared about you. She made you feel safe. It was something you could feel in every kiss, every touch and action. But right now, you were so blinded by jealousy, you werenât thinking straight. Shoving the nearly empty bottle of beer away from you, you made your way towards her.

âHey babe. Whatâcha doinâ?â- he wrapped his arm around your shoulders possessively, squeezing them slightly. Was he jealous? -â Nothing. Just talking. This is Shawn. Heâs a big Greta fanâ- you gestured towards the man in front of you. He was beaming. Â
âOh, yeah? Were you at last nightâs concert?â
âAh, no. Tickets were sold out in two minutes!â
âAw, thatâs too bad, manâ- you swear you could see a smirk playing on his lips.
âDo you mind if I get a photo with you?â- Shawn smiled.
âActually, me and my girlfriend here, whom youâve had the pleasure of talking to for the past twenty minutes- we got friends to entertain. So uh, sorry manâ, you looked at your boyfriend, with your mouth agape. In all the years youâve know him, he never declined a photo with a fan. Ever. And he was always gracious towards all of them. Now he just seemed pissed, his mouth set into a rigid line, arm still around you. He spun you around towards the booth without letting you finish your drink.
âJake, what the hell? Why were you so rude?â- you smacked him on his stomach.
âI wasnât. He was the one being too close to you,â God, he really was jealous. âAnd you didnât even- I donât wanna talk about this right nowâ-he pinched the bridge of his nose.
âYou know what? Youâre right. I donât either. I wanna go home. Now. Youâre being ridiculous, you know that?â-you half growled.
âWho should go home? The nights still young!â-Sam practically half yelled, Joy putting a hand over his mouth. Â
âWe are. Itâs been a long nightâ- Jake sighed, closing his eyes. Â You scoffed, detaching yourself from his grip and grabbing your purse from the couch. âBye guys, see you soonâ- you hugged them all goodbye and faked a smile. Josh sent you a look. Â
Storming out of the bar, you heard him call your name twice, then cursing.
Slamming the passenger door shut, you glared at him-the alcohol only fuelling your anger. Â
âWhatâs your damn problem? That guy didnât mean anything. He was just being nice! And he liked the band. You saw how happy he was!â
âDamn it, Y/N. Why do you always have to be so naive? He was flirting! I saw the way he looked at you. Like you were a piece of meatâ- he squeezed the wheel harder.
âGod, Jake. We were just talking! I wasnât going to jump on him! This conversation is ridiculousâ- you slammed your hand on the door handle, making him jump. You were rarely angry.
Now the two of you, fuming, sat in silence, the street lamps illuminating your faces every few second.

Jake slammed the door behind him and threw the keys on the kitchen counter. His eyes were dark.
âYou donât understand. I canât-â-he groaned, brushing his hair back with his hand,â I canât stand it when I see you with someone else". You laughed. This was ridiculous. Three years together and the man you saw yourself spending the rest of your life with was saying this. You thought he always trusted you. Knew that you only saw him. Â
âThatâs why I got so angry. Heâs all...six feet tall and stuff, just flirting with you-â you took a few steps towards him and put your hands on his chest. Â
âYou honestly think I would want him? I want you, idiot. I donât care about your height. Or weight or whatever else thatâs bothering you. Youâre perfect to me. Your stupid laugh and smile. Just those two things alone make my heart swell with pride because youâre mineâ. He looked at you, a huge smile stretching on his lovely face. Â
âYeah? What else you like about me?â- he peered down, brining your hands up to his lips, kissing each finger lovingly.
âLove, "you corrected him, âwell, your silky hair. Your goofiness, your ability to make everyone smile-even when youâre not trying! Your sense of style is better than mine, look at you! And how talented you areâ- you giggled- âAn absolute rock godâ- he chuckled, picking you up and throwing you onto the couch, sending you into a fit of giggles. Jake wrapped his arms around you, sighing.
âBaby, Iâm sorry. Iâm just jealous. I canât help it. But it wonât happen again- I swear. I was such an ass about this.â- he whispered, brushing away a strand of hair that had fallen into your face. You smiled up at him, kissing his nose. Â
âItâs alright. You're forgiven. How about a hot bath?â-you raised your eyebrows.
âIâll start it. You get the wineâ- he called, already running to the bathroom like a little kid.
