My Fashion Field Experience
For the past month, I had the privilege of visiting companies in LA from the fashion industry. My Professor was kind enough to allow some fashion marketing students at Woodbury University to visit the companies and her contacts. We got to visit PR firms to Fashion magazines to fashion brands and in between. It was an intellectual experience and I learned a lot from the companies we got to visit. My favorite place I got to go to was Guess Inc. There were so many areas of the headquarters. Got to visit the design area, the dye room, photo studio, social and e-commerce offices and their own factory store.
I enjoyed visiting Guess Inc and getting to see the work environment they provide which was spacious and open to communication. Another company I was grateful to visit was Levi’s Premium showroom also in downtown LA. There I met with Woodbury alumni Rachael Kampas who was the junior sales accountant. She talked about her daily routine of her job and the struggles and rewards that come with it and then she showed us some of the newer trends on Levis jeans and the vintage line that Levi's has created.
If there is one thing I gained from my field experience is that there are so many places and opportunities to work in the fashion industry and that it is important to find a job where you have great skills at but are passionate about and have the drive to do the best job you can. I will never forget all the people and places I got to see and for my professor to get us in to see these amazing companies.
