Gobbo! and other gitz

Also the finished Grot Week chart.

The cover art for my fifth sketchbook is finally finished!

I turned Beavis into a grot and his pompadour is now a hair squig biting onto his head lmao.

I think grot Beavis and butthead would often command their hair squigs to fight each other because that would be fun to watch (and orks are canonically natural bald)

As you can see I took heavy inspiration from Rob Zombie’s artworks because that dude’s a legend and I just love that psychedelic scene from Beavis and Butthead Do America

so in an attempt to feed my current greenskin obsession i followed my boyfriend's advice and am currently reading the red gobbo books and just finished the first one (the gobbo's revenge)

now my main goal is to paint a proper picture of the Green in all its aspects and it seemed difficult to harmonise the makari-pov "all is as it should be"-grot mindset with the "revolushun! no orks no masters!"-red gobbo one

and then i read the book

and no actually. it checks out perfectly

because what actually happens, really?

claws dies, the fingers are free, a gaggle of free grots with technical knowledge inherited from their late mek boss on a human ship and in a perfect position to just fuck off to wherever

which by all accounts is what any grot with self-preservation would do

but fingwit heard that *something else* speak to him in the mycelium of his brain

and became, just for a while, the red gobbo

and assisted the waaaagh they were in

and then came back to the orks, nominally to spread the revolushun to all grots sure, but like

the "red gobbo"-myth already existed among grots didn't it?

how many times did scenarios like this happen before?

a group of grots is suddenly free, but instead of truly running off, their leader becomes the red gobbo and urges them to go back to spread the revolushun from the inside, and a generation (grot-generation, not that long, they have a rather fast turnover rate) later it's just another part of the red gobbo myth

ever notice how there's no independent free grots anywhere in 40k?

the purpose of a system is what it does

and what the red gobbo myth does is actively prevent gretchin separatism
