So they split it into two new creatures—snakes and elephants. Yet, one Grootslang escaped. It lives in a vast, dark cave called the Wonder Hole, said to be bottomless and filled with diamonds. Many who’ve searched for its treasure were never seen again. It is said that the Grootslang loves gems… and if you offer enough, it may let you go. Or not. My monster-sona is based off the grootslang from African mythology. The grootslang is known for dwelling in the Richtersveld river. It’s also known for its strength and intelligence. It’s usually depicted as a hybrid of a python and an elephant, the head being an elephant’s while the body is of a python. I took elements from both while keeping human elements since, you know, I’m a human. I also went to the extreme of this (TikTok) trend because i love when a character transforms into something so hideous that it turns the stomachs of those around them. The characters friend shave to retreat because they are so vile. The characters lover has to remind themself of who transformed because of how grotesque the character has become. Love it. It’s peak design. Furthermore, I choose a creature/monster from mythology because I’m a nerd and African mythology is the tits.

Here's some fun urban legends from South Africa!
Ok so the first one up is the Tokoloshe – a malevolent, imp-like spirit from Xhosa and Zulu culture. Sometimes it could be a familiar used to get back at people who wronged the person who summoned it. They cause illness and death and could be compared to goblins.
Next we have The Grootslang or “big snake” is a legendary cryptid said to live in the Richtersveld in the far northwest of the country. The creature is a mix between an elephant and a python, with varying depictions as to what part of the animal resembles what. It is usually depicted with an elephant’s head and the body of a snake.
These are just some of the weird and odd legends we have here.
