This is a screenshot from Muskrat's new Grokipedia. It's just Wikipedia.
It's Just Wikipedia.
He just made a chatbot do a high-school level "in your own words" rendition of Wikipedia articles, but this time with a clear opportunity for him to insert his own opinions, narrative, and misinformation into it. Fucking wild.
I was looking at Elon Musk's new "Grokipedia," a Wikipedia competitor made entirely by AI! And I have to say, it sure has great taste in sources!
This is from Grokipedia's Multiplicity article!
Let's check out reference 32!
Oh, hey! That's ME!
I'm the source!!!
Here's the post!
Someone recently asked me if I thought that I was on the right side history. I think this is actually an interesting question. Society is co
Truly, Grokipedia has the best sourcing on the internet!
/s
Okay, but seriously, this is genuinely terrible. Just like everything Elon touches!
To be fair, in this case, the info it's referencing is accurate... but I didn't provide links in that post! I didn't provide a source for my claims about the studies that had been conducted.
It's not that my claims weren't accurate... but that this post wasn't a good source to use for those claims!
Grokipedia found a random Tumblr user claiming that studies had been conducted... and it just ran with it!
This is why Wikipedia doesn't source random Tumblr blogs. You would never find a Tumblr post from me used on Wikipedia as a source. And you know what? That's a good thing!
I should NOT be a source on Wikipedia. I shouldn't be a source on Grokipedia!
But this type of terrible sourcing is, frankly, what Elon and friends want. They don't care about integrity. They want a world where a random blog or podcast is treated as just as credible as a journalist or historian.
Grokipedia is yet another attack on the very concept of truth.
I think it's hilarious that I ended up as a source for Grokipedia... but it's also deeply troubling. Because if I was used as a source on this, what other bad sources is Grokipedia basing its articles on?
I only just found that Grokipedia is fully up and running as a standalone website. Worth bookmarking as an alternative to Wikipedia on contentious issues, especially when pages have clearly been altered for political or ideological reasons.
The other founder disagrees.
Grokipedia is only a few months old and is already returning at #2 on many Google searches. Wikipedia will not be able to compete for long.
It'll try, and it'll fail.
in the meantime please help Wikipedia die by not donating. And if you don't like Grokipedia because it's connected to Elon Musk, that is quite simply your loss. You can go hide in the virtue signal corner jerking off with the princesses who refuse to make an X account because they might see the type of Nazi propaganda they don't like (white supremacist) instead of the Nazi propaganda they do like (pro-palestinian). (you see both on every website but that's beside the point - like it or not, if you aren't on X you are simply not involved in the conversation and you are late to everything.
That said, if you truly think Elon is a Nazi you're too stupid to function and you should head over to BlueSky to look at furry cub porn with the other societal rejects and easily manipulated BlueAnon morons.)
it's a shame that Wikipedia sold out and shat itself in the end, but whatever. Onward.

Oliver Willis at Daily Kos:
Responding to reports of falsehoods in his newly launched Grokipedia project, billionaire Elon Musk concocted a nonsensical conspiracy theory to deflect attention from his latest failure. On Monday, Musk launched Grokipedia, an encyclopedia-style website written by artificial intelligence. And mere hours later,Ā Wiredās reviewĀ of the siteās content found multiple entries rife with falsehoods and disinformation.Ā For instance, the entry on slavery in the U.S. outlines āideological justificationsā for the practice and denies that slavery played a key economic role in the development of the nation. In reality, free labor from enslaved peopleĀ built the economic powerĀ of the United States.
The site also furthers several right-wing views.Ā The site pushes the lie that the spread of pornography in the 1980s worsened to the HIV/AIDS crisis, according to Wired. And the entry on ātransgenderā also echoes Muskās bigotry against transgender people, referring to transgender women as ābiological males.ā The Guardianās reviewĀ of Grokipedia noted the siteās entries āappear to hew closely to conservative talking points,ā noting the entry on the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol falsely cites āwidespread claims of voting irregularities.ā
In response to the articles, Musk didnāt appear to correct his siteās misinformation but instead invented a conspiracy. āWired, The Atlantic, Guardian and many other propaganda legacy publications would die immediately if they had to support themselves. Donations from far left organizations disguised as charities are what keep them alive,āĀ he wrote. āThey serve simply as a means of influencing Wikipedia, Google, etc as fake āauthoritativeā sources.ā This lie alignsĀ with conspiraciesĀ that Musk has repeatedly spread to deflect from his failings. It is the same technique Musk used years agoĀ when he calledĀ a man who criticized his plans for a rescue vehicle a āpedo guyā with no evidence for such an incendiary claim.
Elon Musk justifies his right-wing Wikipedia knockoff creation Grokipedia by concocting conspiracy theories.
