...after having read the libretto twice and listened through a good portion of act 1- all done begrudgingly. i avoided griselda because i was annoyed at how it's the only alessandro scarlatti opera that anyone bothers to stage. i am still annoyed, but i have to admit that so far, i actually quite like it. so.

she's like rodelinda but more sopping wet. but not adelaide-from-lotario-level just yet. she has more of a spine.

i think a big part of why this opera hasn't really stuck with me ( yet ) is because every single scene with her feels so emotionally loaded- she's always bemoaning something, etc. etc.- and thus it makes a good portion of the story pass by in a blur for me.

her arias are soooooo good, though.
