You sometimes have befuddling encounters in the tabletop scene.
I have a regular player that during a Killteam-style game was trying to convince me it was a good move to "mentally remove" the bases of miniatures and" imagine the models shorter by that measure lost in height" to make a more accurate reading on whether or not they get cover advantages from pieces of terrain like barricades or waist-height walls.
Like... excuse you? You expect me, and you, to make imaginary predictions for the sake of super accurate realism when it is all fair and balanced already because we all have the same bases on our miniatures? If the terrain was made taller or shorter to accommodate, by that metric it would not matter because then the imaginary height adjustments would still happen!
I have never heard this before in my life - and no shade - but it is preposterous. I shut that down immediately, and it was one of the rare times in a game that I gave a "no" on something. Justifying it of course, but I was borderline upset with how boneheaded and almost *childish* that was.
And yes, it was Grimdark Future Firefight, and now I AM going to give shade, but he was running those Iron Warrior-custom factions someone had made with the "Breacher" rules - where they get a shield with extra armour but get a slower movement score. In a game like that, for the same cost it gives him more benefits than negatives, and he insists that while it is an unofficial unit, it "has been approved".
Maybe I am bitter and being a baby about it, but it all paints a picture in my head that I am not liking.
Even in death, I still rotate
I think the Gators are my favorite unit... but the others are really cool in their own right!
I've been painting some Drukhari for my wife, just finished her Archon, and the rest of an OPR firefight squad 🧝♀️

ARTOBER DAY 9:
THE CHELL-KYT BROTHERS: A Tale of Treachery & Doom
A unique Xenos species that will be appearing in my Space Marine Fancomic! I just finished rewatching BATTLE: LOS ANGELES with my fiance, and I was very much inspired by the design of the Landshark aliens from it. Just these bipedal blobs of mutilated metal and barely recognizable flesh, all moving with cohesion and coordination. Hella cool aesthetic. So, yeah, that lead me to the design of the CHELL-KYT. I borrowed elements of the Jorgall from the Horus Heresy book "FLIGHT OF THE EISENSTIEN" as well, and I got this very alien, lanky, biomechanical species that's human enough to convey body gestures and emotional postures, but with no recognizable face. They raid across the Charybdis Sector, stealing supplies and resources from the colonies on the edge of space.
Keep an eye out for more Xenos & Marine concepts before the First Comic drops in LATE OCTOBER!
Some Sisters Repentia to be used as Fanatic Sisters in OPR Grimdark Future, if I ever find anyone to play with again. Most of my Blessed Sisters are painted in the stereotypical black armor with red and purple cloth but I wanted to do something new for the new models.
Also, can y'all tell which of these models is 3d Printed?
