It seemed just typical, really. Just Mettaton’s luck. Escaping an existence where he spent every day on edge - finally getting the chance to leave all that behind for something better; a decent home, someone who actually cared about him and his wellbeing - only to get mugged on the walk home from school, of all things. 

And, naturally, they’d not been overjoyed by the fact that he’d had little more than ten dollars, a couple of shades of lip gloss (after his inability to decide that morning) and his hardly-top-of-the-range-phone - so, naturally, the next best thing in their minds had apparently been beating him to within an inch of his life and leaving him shivering in the underpass where they’d jumped him.

So, understandably, the sight of his sort-of-guardian out for ingredients feels more like some sort of divine intervention than anything-- though that’s only if he can attract his attention.
