Gus had meant to stop by sooner, really he had, but somehow things had gotten too busy and he hadn't found the time. As late as it was, he didn't feel quite right calling on the rabbit; instead, he left a neatly wrapped box and a card on his doorstep. Inside the box, Oswald would find a small bag with a half dozen homemade cookies, a dapper hat, and an old watch that the Gremlin had polished and repaired in his spare time.
Oswald was surprised to find the present on his stoop the next morning. He opened the card to see who it was from, then smiled and opened the box. Upon finding the cookies, he immediately popped one in his mouth. It was then he realized just how spoiled he was on Ortensia’s cooking. These cookies were good, but definitely not on the level of Ortensia’s. Still, they were pretty good, and he appreciated the effort. He popped another one into his mouth as he unwrapped the rest of the goodies. Another dapper hat, as always, and a rather nice-looking wristwatch. Ignoring the dapper hat, he wrapped the watch around his wrist and admired how it looked. Not bad. He then headed off to thank Gus for the gifts.
