#green things

Right now it's just a quick outline of components, plus a proof of concept playbook and modular traits. There's a mysterious token economy I haven't figured out yet still, but that'll happen eventually lol.

Much like the source inspiration, this game is going to be about wandering and traveling and encountering mysterious things, and then investigating and aiding those touched by said mysterious things. Very chill.

Grass - or rather, grasses. Totally underrated plants. For a start, 'grasses' covers major cereal crops like wheat, rye, rice, millet, barley, oats... But also, have you ever been into a properly-managed meadow and looked at all the different types of grasses you can find there? They're so diverse and beautiful. Begone you Mail and Express reading types with your manicured monocultural lawns and complaints about 'untidy gardens'. You give grass(es) a bad name.

Moss agate. It's so pretty. I could stare into the patterns of a piece of moss agate for ages. I used to have a piece which was semi-translucent and looking into it was like looking at a forest wrapped in fog. I lost it moving house though😭NB. that it's not a true agate, apparently, because it doesn't have 'bands'.

Wyken Pippin apples. Many moons ago, I went to the annual apple celebration and sale at the National Fruit Collection at Brogdale, Kent, where they were offering samples and selling bags of old and unusual apple varieties. I tried a Wyken Pippin, a variety which dates back to the 1700s, and bought several bags on the spot - best apples I've ever had. Eaten fresh they taste like baked apples, all that intensity and sweetness. Unfortunately, they don't store terribly well, but those I couldn't eat before they started going a bit wrinkly and sad, I stewed with butter, sugar and cinnamon, and they made the best stewed apples I've ever tasted, too. I went back to Brogdale for the festival several times after that, but Wyken Pippins were never on sale again. Boo.

Town Hall Clocks (Adoxa moschatellina). Tiny little plants that love shade / half-shade. In spring they have five light green flowers arranged on top of a stem like four faces of a town hall clock (hence the name) with the fifth flower facing upwards. They're often overlooked but very cute and importantly, they're an indicator species for ancient woodland in the UK, so if you ever find them make a note of where they were and take a photo if possible - particularly if you have reason to believe the woodland they're in might be threatened in future.
