Now , that I remember your ovum theory from Patton's Playlist about influencing the "birth" of the twins, what if similar thing happened with Janus and Virgil? Because as proclaimed, Anxiety and Causion revolves around Self-preservation and is itself a part of it. Since Janus is represented as the Embodiment of Self-care (and Deceit -||-) Maybe in someway he did influenced the birth of Virgil/Paranoia and before it was like...a mere function that existed by itself before bringing it alive too?
Thatâs a very good point!
As I said in my Virgilâs playlist analysis, Janus is the embodiment of self-preservation and self-preservation is a âset of behaviors that ensures the survival of any living creatureâ. It could very well be that, among this set of behaviors, some became more important than others, to the point of âcreatingâ a new side responsible for these functions only.
And yes, I actually like the idea that Janus influenced Virgilâs birth, somehow. Because he is self-preservation, but he doesnât protect Thomas from physical threats: he defends him from mental and social threats.
So, since other people (and humans in general) have the tendency to lie, Janus couldâve focused more on the lying/deceiving part of his function - thus influencing the birth of a new side, specialised in the physical protection, the âsurvival instinctâ. Still part of self-preservation, still âborn from himâ, but with a different purpose.
But why creating a whole new side for physical protection? Probably because of Thomas himself. His anxious nature âpretendedâ a specific side to fill that role. So Virgil was born to be both Thomasâ âphysical protectorâ and the alarm designed to scare him if there was something wrong.
