#gratefulfor #gratefulmomentsday1
I was in class 1, when I had got really sick in school. My body was heating up to 102°F and the room we used to sit in, didn't have a comfortable place to lie down.
Now a lot of you wondering there should have been a sick room and a kid in grade 1, should've been sent home immediately.. Yes. But, it was before mobiles were a thing, and we lived in a joint family, so calls took some time to finally reach my mother, while I was sent to this other room to rest.
This room was another section of the same class.
(It used to be a small private primary school, and it had two sections in every class. In india every student is supposed to attend every subject taught in the school in a particular grade until they pass 10th and each with these section-mates. Same subjects were taught by two different teachers in two different sections. Weird, compared to west? Yes.)
In this room, two girls were asked to take care of me while someone from my home came to fetch me. So, understand this. Both of them were from the same grade, so definitely, they were the same age as mine. Which is somewhat around 6y.o. But they were giving me meds, gently stroking my hair - my forehead, smiling at me, and telling me, it will be okay. To add to that, I was meeting both of them for the first time.
It was probably the first stroke of kindness and love I was feeling, except that of my mother's, and felt important. I still remember one of the girls face smiling at me, and telling me it will be okay! One of those two, is one of the closest to me today, and I rarely meet the other one in a year or two. Children can be mean, sure, but they also can be incredibly kind, and sweet. It is strange what life presents you with when you are vulnerable, and even stranger when it reminds you of those.
Felt really grateful of this, and I hope it brings a smile on your faces too. Not tagging anyone, if this pops up in your feed, you can carry on with the hashtag #gratefulfor in your own blog.
