Drawing a random BFDI contestant #32: Grassy

He’s Grassy! Grassy is kinda overrated, but he is undeniably a cute little guy and I can appreciate him for that. I also really like his friendship with Snowball and it’s cool getting to see his more complex and competent side

This week I upload the something is coming!

What were you, Grassy and TV doing before you got killed by the lava during the lava-pocalypse (after you gave Four the emerald)? 

What inspired you to build Robot Flower in the first place? Since the regular Flower was still alive at the time. And has she met Bot yet? And did you ever find out that it was Grassy who was responsible for (accidentally) causing Robot Flower to go crazy? 

And don’t worry about your parental skills, Basketball. Look at Golf Ball and her initial struggles. Maybe Leafy (and her mother) could give you advice since she seems to be handling Ashes just fine. 

For Grassy, what’s your favorite game to play on the tablets you haven’t destroyed (yet).

And finally with Snowball, how are things going in Farnorth? Are you getting along with the resistance members alright?

Basketball:

"I was trying to get TV to find a channel that was suitable for Grassy to watch. TV kept changing the channel every couple minutes. I get that kids programs can be annoying, but the stuff they air on television is at least somewhat higher quality than anything that gets churned out for kids online."

"As for Robot Flower, well..." She glances around awkwardly. "Her creation was the result of too much caffeine combined with too much alcohol and a night by myself in my factory that I only half-remember. Robot Flower was the LEAST strange thing I built that night."

"She's met Bot a few times. I don't think Bot likes her very much, unfortunately. I think Robot Flower sometimes gets a bit too...intense for their liking."

"...That and she went after MePhone4 with a steakknife after he beat her at UNO one time recently. She still gets bursts of violent behavior left over from that time she went crazy..."

"I figured out that Grassy unintentionally made her go haywire on my own after rewatching the episode...which I'm still amazed was aired like that...Grassy is not very good with machines."

She looks down at the floor. "I probably should ask Leafy's mom for advice. Grassy is about 10 years old, that's a completely different life stage from where Ashes and GB Junior are...but Leafy left home when she was in her teens so Olive Branch definitely knows about what 10 year olds are like."

Grassy:

He holds up a tablet that already has a large crack on its screen. The game on the screen strongly resembles the 2010s classic smartphone game Angry Birds, but with...onions, for some reason.

"This one!"

Snowball:

"We're about to head into battle with both Carving-Knife AND Curveball and I'm PUMPED. The resistance here loves me!"

1. When you rebelled against Golf Ball back in BFB, why didn’t you take over as leader instead of 8-Ball? You’re probably more qualified than him as a leader.

2. During the funny plants challenge in TPOT, why were you so okay with Grassy burning after Bell lost her bracelet. Wouldn’t it have been easier to send him back to the grasslands to put Bell’s bracelet on?

3. How did you fend off Wilson when he tried to eat Grassy? Granted, Wilson was still injured from his fight with Golf Ball so it wouldn’t have taken too much.

I do have a few for Grassy actually. What do you think of your other TPOT (and BFB) teammates? Aside from Basketball, Snowball, and Blocky.

How are things going with Blocky? Did you pull any cool pranks yet? (Blocky can probably answer this for him or add a comment if he wants).

BASKETBALL’S ANSWERS:

“Well, admittedly…I let 8-Ball take the lead out of…spite, for how Golf Ball was acting. Seeing how frustrated she got was…cathartic, at the time.”

She pauses.

“In hindsight I really regret not taking the lead myself and…we probably should have still treated her better. She was still our teammate even if we did think she was being a jerk, and she had some good ideas that we ignored…”

“Oh, dear, the Funny Plants challenge…not one of my best moments there. It would have been easier to send him back to the Grasslands but I was focused on winning the challenge and there didn’t seem to be any other way to keep the plant warm…and basically, I REALLY sometimes don’t understand how I still have custody of him to this day after all the…various missteps…”

“As for Wilson, well, I hit him in the face with a metal chair. Repeatedly. Until he dropped Grassy.”

GRASSY’S ANSWERS:

“Grassy likes all the contestants!” He says cheerfully, and then pauses. “Except Pencil…she’s scary….dunno why…”
