Barcelona posee numerosas fuentes de agua potable que, obviamente calman la sed del caminante, pero que adicionalmente embellecen sus calles y plazas. Esta fontana, ubicada en la esquina de carrer de Marina y la Gran Vía de las cortes catalanas es una fuente Wallace. Recibe ese nombre por su origen, el millonario británico Sir Richard Wallace encargó al escultor francés Charles Lebourg el diseño de una fuente, que simbolizara la fraternidad universal entre los hombres, de la cual mandó a hacer cientos de réplicas, que fue regalando a las principales ciudades de Europa, siendo París la primera y la más favorecida en recibir estas fuentes.
