I think everyone agrees Gragas desperately needs a redesign, but one thing no one can seemingly agree on is how. There's a number of fan redesigns that drastically de-emphasize the belly, and even if these are made in good faith, it does feel like it's saying that you can't be presentable and attractive if you're above a certain weight. A redesign of Gragas would have to make him less grotesque, which would require not making him a complete blob, but so many people swing the other direction and then League loses basically it's one fat champion.
Riot put themselves in this position, with the original intent of Gragas to just be a big joke, but they have been trying to rectify that. And as far as a new model for the character, it would be a hard balance because, again, where do you land to still make Gragas Gragas. I'm a very large man myself, and frankly seeing a very large character redesigned to be drastically slimmer, under the guise of making him more presentable, feels more offensive than the original joke of the character in my eyes. Just don't turn him into another Udyr.
