Can’t stop spinning records now...
My first serious cartridge was this Grado Prestige Gold I bought in 2005 for my Thorens TD-165. It came with a Signature 8MZ stylus they had installed by mistake at Grado Labs in Brooklyn, NY. I discovered that only after 15 years, when the stylus was broken since years before. Today my Thorens TD-160 runs again with the same cartridge thanks to a modern Black2 stylus, which may be cheap but sure upgrades an old Prestige series body. And maybe the performance is even comparable to the old 8MZ...

Grado cartridges are still made by hand in the original lab in Brooklyn founded by Joe Grado in the grocery shop of his Italian family who migrated to New York from Italy. The personnel is like they’re part of the Grado family. It is impressive the quality a family-run company achieves still today, in this corporate world...
