Mount Pleasant Cemetery - Toronto, Canada
One of Canada’s most historic cemeteries, Mount Pleasant has served Toronto since 1876. It is the final resting place of many prominent Canadians, including former prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, Nobel Prize winner Frederick Banking, sportscaster and “Voice of Hockey” Foster Hewitt and renowned pianist Glenn Gould.
The Garden of Remembrance for cremations includes a glass-roofed conservatory and five distinct areas, each with different physical features. These areas are named The Gateway of Hope, The Eternal Gardens, The Pool of Reflection, River of Memories and The Forest of Remembrance.
A mausoleum, dating back to 1920, is a classic example of Georgian architecture, with granite exteriors and finely detailed bronze, marble and wood interiors.
Mount Pleasant Cemetery is part of the Mount Pleasant Group (MPG) which operates 10 cemeteries across the Greater Toronto Area.
