it took me like half an hour but I did it— really helped to have the Gothi plush as reference

Gothi was probably born mute. “But she made noise in the one scene from httyd 2” welllll according to reddit “can mute people make any sounds” it says “Their vocal cords work so they can vocalise (grunt and scream) and make at least some phonemes, most likely, but they cannot speak words” and the only sound gothi ever made was a grunt!

Another thing im curious about is she writes in the dirt but it is not the same language berkians write. Below are some photos of gothis writing vs berks writing.

On the left is gothis writing, on the right is berkian.

So what does this mean? Either gothi is using an older form or language or she came from a different land and doesnt know how to speak or write in berkian so she writes in her own language and only gobber and fishlegs know how to read it.

Unfortunately or fortunately after writing this i looked into the wiki and it says here a few facts about gothi below.

“ Gobber is able to read Gothi's writing, as he was the only person who could translate Gothi's scribbles in her two Riders of Berk appearances. Fishlegs is another Viking who can read Gothi's writing. In Eel Effect (Se, E16), Fishlegs translates Gothi's writing to English when they are on Healer's Island.

Gothi has two tattoos, one on her right arm and on on her right hand. The one on her appears to be a Whispering Death.

Gothi says absolutely nothing in the film, she just gestures.

It is said that Gothi can tell when you die by looking at your tounge

It can be questioned if Gothi is mute or not, because, In HTTYD 2, She still makes sounds, such as frustrated growls, gasps and screams, all with an elderly woman's voice. While she doesn't speak in the movie, one can't make any noise at all if they're mute. Therefore, she may have forgotten how to talk or she can't talk the language.

With the release of her Terrible Terrors, it is revealed in Dragons: Rise of Berk, that Gothi can in fact speak. However, she chooses to speak Dragonese and not norse. “

It claims that mute people cannot make sound but i already proved that wrong. Some misinformation that the wiki unfortunately has. But right below that it says that gothi CAN speak however she only knows dragonese and not norse/berkian therefore her writing in the dirt is probably dragonese.
