Did you know GM stands for Goblin Men
mine are: 1. nepo 2. dubov (or gothamchess idk) 3. paul keres 4. kramnik 5. levon aronian
GothamChess (an international master) posted a video analysis of the chess game that Lewis and Charles played against each other recently, along with an analysis of their game against chess Grandmaster Teimour Radjabov ♟️
I thought that my chess obsession would extend to just watching a bunch of Levy's videos and that would be it. I now have an album for chess, the only thing I have a playlist for other than music (even though I am obsessed with so many other things) have spent over 5 straight hours staring at a wall creating imagines with the players, studying it through videos and analysis done by a professional streamer, have a chess.com account and have downloaded Take Take Take (not the title of his app being a reference to his babygirls dialogue augh) to watch things like Titled Tuesday. The fics need to be updated or I might just rip the walls of the earth off and vigorously chomp on them while trying to find out how the knight moves. On my life, take the anal beads away from that man and someone please tell me how to teleport my conciousness back to the times where there were twitch chess battles with creators I watched. Chess lore is insane

syb who is the levy gothamchess you mention so fondly? can they teach me how to Play Better? i am in the trenches.
omg so. GothamChess, aka Levy Rozman, is a Youtube channel, I think honestly best described as a chess commentator for the highest ranks of chess first, "the internet's chess teacher" second, and a Fide International Master third. He makes chess clickbait first and foremost (just so you know what you're getting into), but he does have an earnest passion for getting more people into chess, and I really like that he commentates chess like it's pro wrestling (in a good way) (actually he commentates like it's MMA but shh close enough).
Can Levy Gothamchess teach you to play better? that I am not an expert to answer on since I am not very good. The chess enjoyers in my life (my husband, and @krippe90 among others) all like Danya (Daniel Naroditsky) the best for chess instructional. I have heard he is very nice and would probably be the best choice if you don't mind receiving info via video.
I do get some tips out of Levy's videos but I mostly like his commentary on the high high ranked chess & gossip, plus it's a fun togetherness activity for me and my husband.
I have a copy of Levy's book, How to Win at Chess, which is charming, but it was def something I bought half to suggest a meaningful birthday gift for my husband to get me (bless his heart he is so bad at picking gifts to give and always begs me for clear instruction), and half because I thought it would be cute to support my favourite chess splorts entertainer. Gothamchess also has an interactive chess teaching platform, chessly, but I don't know much about it! Maybe it's good!
The video series that got me into GothamChess was the 2024 world chess championship, though I find his How to Lose at Chess series really fun (viewers send him games that are so bad it's funny and he commentates them in a way that is both entertaining and oddly heartening).
So long story short, from what I've heard, Danya is the best bet for instructional, but you might get something out of some of Levy's videos as a pro wrestling enjoyer. Also, highly recommend tuning in to GothamChess for the Candidates tournament this year, I'm sure that will be peak.
The only thing more fun than watching people play chess well is watching bad games. Terrible games. Games that cause you pain.
Yes I am referring to GothamChess's chess bot world championship.
