I like to start my projects with a ton of really quick analog sketches to get the worst ideas out of the way quickly. Then I do some analog refining, like the top of this post. Once I’m happy with the sketch, I trace over it in either @procreate or @adobe Illustrator. Crafty Goodtype Tuesday entry by @mabujork ・・・ When designing letters, I typically conceptualize using Analog, and then finalize on Digital. Although nothing compares to the unique grittiness of a hand drawn letter or calligraphy piece using pencil or ink, working with wonderful digital platforms like @procreate truly expands your world of creative possibilities and avenues. Hence, meshing a hybrid of the two mediums is my favorite method of creating! Kicking off today’s Goodtype Tuesday is @letterpiece with a brilliant digital vs analog piece for @Paperlike. ・・・ Getting back into weekly prompts with @goodtype // analog vs digital - while it’s nice to just have pen to paper sometimes, it’s SUCH A TIME SAVER to go straight to digital. I’ve gotten so used to my iPad that I double tap on paper to undo 🤦‍♀️ - anyone else do this? • This week, we've teamed up with one of our favorite products, @PaperLike! @signlanguageart prefers analog designing methods! ・・・ A just for fun lettering piece for @Goodtype and @PaperLike While I used to be glued to #photoshop - my love for traditional art materials has taken over. There’s nothing quite like the feel of real paper, paint & pencils. It forces me to be extra careful (no delete option), and hone my abilities without the use of digitalization. While it’s been tough not to resist the #procreate bandwagon (especially while seeing all the amazing art people make with it), I’ve committed fully to sticking with traditional/analog, and be the best I can with it. I spend enough time in front of a screen anyhow. Art is meant to be fun, progressive and help us to grow...and this is the sweet spot.
