We hired a new graveyard security guard (which we NEED).
Last night he came in to gamble, and introduced himself as my new employee. He didn’t make a good first impression.
First he argued with me (and as the security manager, I’ll be his boss) about charging him for a beer because he was only betting 2¢/pin on a slot machine (if he’s been hired, he’s READ the policy that it takes at least a 25¢/spin bet to get a free basic domestic beer, 40¢ or more for an import or craft beer). And then in his time there, from about 12am to 4:30am, I had to wake him up SIX TIMES before I showed him the door. I don’t think he has graveyard hours in him.
This doesn’t give me a lot of hope for him staying awake through a shift.
I have a feeling this guy won’t last long.Which sucks, because even if he wouldn’t be my favorite person, we NEED more bodies on -- but not if I’m going to have to babysit him constantly. I’m better off without someone with an attitude who can’t stay awake. I’m GOING to give him the old college try, but I’m not going to get my hopes up. I give everyone ONE free pass on falling asleep on graveyard, but I relieve one of my bosses tonight and well tell him about my first experience so they know to keep looking. Because being short-staffed is better than having an employee who I have to babysit.
