So I've read your posts on how weird the feminization of certain characters in ship dynamics is, mostly Sirius, and I totally agree, and also with your point about how weird it is to treat the whole concept of femininity and masculinity in such essentialist ways the fandom often does.
My question is, what do you think about the feminization of Tom Riddle that goes on in some parts of the fandom? Like, it's not as prevalent as what happens to Sirius, Draco, Snape or Harry, but I've noticed that the TMR fans who do often posture themselves as above the people who do it to the other characters, like it's more canon compliant to do it, and I'm like?? Are we reading the same books? Maybe it's also about TMR fans themselves sometimes being a bit more pretentious for lack of a better word, but idk, I just don't get it.
We can all headcanon what we want of course and I don't have any issues with that, but what gets me is how essentialist people get about this stuff and even go as far as to do it to a character whose whole arc is about his hubris and inability to connect with love and empathy and other traditionally feminine concepts.
Hmm, that's so interesting because I don't know if I've come across much feminized Tom Riddle in my time within this part of the neighborhood.
It's funny, because I've found that I'm not particularly fond of the feminization of Harry within Tomarrymort (I mean, it's more prevalent on the Mort side, it seems). I'm also cognizant of the word 'feminization' and the cultural bias/prejudice that comes along with it. Instead, I'll point to my pet peeve when Harry is portrayed as physically weak or weak-willed. That he would accept imprisonment or switch sides does not really fit with who he is as a character. (Now, don't get me wrong--I love a good whump and torturing Harry into compliance because he's completely broken inside, but there's got to be a good reason why he gives in.)
You might have to be more specific in how you see this feminization showing up with TMR just because I'm coming up short on how this plays out with Tom.
What does Jax do if Gangle wanted to approach him?
Gangle probably wouldn't be approaching Jax.
The abstraction situation has been a lot for her. Specifically, Jax's mere existence.
Someone who was horrible to her, who tormented her for (presumably) years, dies via suicide (or suicide equivalent).
She has to process the relief of him not being around to torture her anymore, while also mourning the loss of someone who was hurting. (And feeling guilty for feeling relived that someone died, although this is an issue that get's resolved in the finale itself more or less.)
It's complicated. And what makes this worse than an actual death is that the hurting remains of the dead person is asleep in a tent within walking distance. Gone but not gone.
As you can imagen it's a weird feeling.
And then all of a sudden, the 'remains' of him aren't just remains anymore. It's a living breathing sentient being. It still wears his name, and it still kinda' looks like him if you tilt your head.
Gangle was conflicted about it for a while. For the first few day's she'd just avoid Jax's pillow fort. and then he started walking around and avoiding him became much harder. and then he started trying to interact with her.
He'd always hang around the group like he had never left; he'd jump out from around corner's; he'd sneak into her room to look at (and sometimes steal) her art.
But, these weren't the behaviors of jax.
Abstra-jax doesn't have the ability to make rude or snide comments at anyone, so whenever he's around the group he can only really listen and watch what is happening.
He'll jump out from around corners, and then patiently wait for her to calm down and check if she's okay.
He takes her art, but she always find's it sitting in her room again like it never left.
Gangle has spoken to Pomni about this, which is when Pomni has to explain that abstra-jax isn't Jax. It's a pill that it took her a second to swallow, and now she is helping everyone else realize too.
Without the same memories as Jax, asbtra-jax is in essence a completely different soul. Not necessarily a better Jax, just a Jax that has healed.
He is approaching her because he doesn't completely understand the relationship they had when he was alive.
He's trying to reach out. To make a connection.
And it is perfectly okay if gangle isin't ready for that.
And she isin't.
Abstra-jax would get the memo quickly about Gangle not really wanting to be a part of his jokes and humor. He takes no offense to it. He simply listens.
He gives her a good berth when he's with the group. he doesn't try to scare her anymore.
Gangle hasn't stopped him from admiring her art though. It's not perfect, but it's a start.
(This is one of the more complicated/nuanced dynamics in the au. Thanks for the ask! :))
If you could go back to competing as an Olympian, would you?
Tricky question, if I’m totally honest 😶
I would absolutely love to compete again. I love racing, I love pushing myself, I love competing with the best of the best and the kinda camaraderie and competition that you get with it. I was just a kid the first time round, I’d planned so many more comps.
And I’ll always love it. Will always love swimming, will always swim. If I make it to ninety, my grandkids will be getting smoked in a race still 😏
But… there’s a big but these days, in the shape of my best girl and her sisters.
Sport is important, don’t get me wrong, I’m not downplaying the huge role that competitive sports have in our world. What sport means to people, the kids that grow up inspired by athletes, the push to improve human performance… and sure, being able to say you’re the fastest guy in the world at swimming the ‘fly is cool (and I have flexed it on occasion 🦋).
But it’s all a bit meaningless to me now if I’m not also the fastest guy at swimming a river to haul someone out, or diving to rescue someone trapped underwater, or any of the other Situations we get called to, y’know?
I guess the truth is that the work we do as International Rescue matters far more than me adding a couple of shiny medals to my wall. Being the reason that someone gets their mom or dad or son or daughter or brother or sister back is always gonna be far more important than me breaking a PB.
And so I don’t think I could commit myself to training (and it’s a huge commitment, it takes over your entire life) knowing that people might need me. It seems… selfish? Whilst also sounding arrogant as fuck, I know, you don’t have to tell me before you lot out there get started on me ✌🏻Getting faster in the pool just to race, when I could be out there actually helping.
So I guess the answer, very clearly, is yes and no, Anon 😌🫶🏻
🧬 +Is it uncomfortable to fold your real nature/energy into a human shape all day? It must feel like trying to hide a pair of very large, velvet wings inside a coat that is two sizes too small.
Send 🧬 + a question (or DNA + ) to ask my muse about their species!
"Interesting, I almost forgot about those old paintings. I don't have wings. Comical as it is. As you see me is my real nature and energy- except when I make people forget my face and other features."

can we submit condiments on their own?
I've been playing with the idea of making polls for specific ingredients, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Hold off for now, and I'll make an announcement when I finally get around to it!
Although, to the person who submitted ice cubes... I don't think that one will ever see the light of day 😅
Ended up drawing more of this cutie!
Finally got back to doing some drawing oppp
