I'm thinking about Wheatley from Portal 2. Steven Merchant's voice is iconic, and his delivery is so specific and versatile. Wheatley's body language is unlike anything I've seen before or since. The way his plates fold and unfold like a flower as his blue eye shrinks and grows. The way he changes the facility's body language once he takes on Glados' role. The way he's a reflection of the scientists who made him: He generates an "endless stream of terrible ideas" that are often both funny and dangerous when put into play, just like they do (how interesting that when asked to make the ultimate idiot, they make themselves; almost like they knew their fate; as if he was meant to be their ghost, to hold back Glados when they failed to). He's also very silly. I love him.
You know, one of my favorite parts of tcf is how they deal with misunderstandings. Since Cale here, literally EVERYONE misunderstands what he means. Normally, I'm not a fan of when something adds a lot of misunderstandings, but the way the book does it is genuinely so good.
I generally feel second hand embarrassment when misunderstandings happen, but in tcf, when such misunderstandings happen, it tends to work out for him AND doesn't feel awkward. Mostly because they misunderstand Cale and think he's kinder then he is when he's actually being "selfish" (that gets quotation marks because he really isn't being selfish lol).

Abdullāh ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) was neither obscene, nor would he use obscene language, and he used to say: "Verily, the best of you are those who have the best manners." قَوْله: (لم يكن النَّبِي صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم فَاحِشا) من الْفُحْش، وَأَصله الزِّيَادَة بِالْخرُوجِ عَن الْحَد. قَوْله: (وَلَا متفحشاً) أَي: وَلَا متكلفاً فِي الْفُحْش، حَاصله أَنه لم يكن الْفُحْش لَهُ لَا جبلياً وَلَا كسبياً. وروى التِّرْمِذِيّ من طَرِيق أبي عبد الله الجدلي، قَالَ: سَأَلت عَائِشَة، رَضِي الله تَعَالَى عَنْهَا، عَن خلق النَّبِي صلى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلم فَقَالَت: (لم يكن فَاحِشا وَلَا متفحشاً، وَلَا سخاباً فِي الْأَسْوَاق، وَلَا يجزىء بِالسَّيِّئَةِ السَّيئَة، وَلَكِن يعْفُو ويصفح) . قَوْله: (أحسنكم أَخْلَاقًا) ، وَفِي رِوَايَة مُسلم: (أحاسنكم) ، وَحسن الْخلق اخْتِيَار الْفَضَائِل فِيهِ وَترك الرذائل، وَهُوَ صفة الْأَنْبِيَاء، عَلَيْهِم الصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَام، والأولياء، رَضِي الله تَعَالَى عَنْهُم، وَعند مُسلم من حَدِيث عَائِشَة (كَانَ: خلقه الْقُرْآن يغْضب لغضبه ويرضى لرضاه) . عمدة القاري
حسن الخلق من صفات النبيين والمرسلين وخيار المؤمنين، وكذلك السخاء من أشرف الصفات؛ لأن الله تعالى سمى نفسه بالكريم الوهاب... شرح البخاري لابن بطال
قال اللهُ تعالَى عن نَبيِّه صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّم: {وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظيمٍ} [القلم: 4] ، فهو أكمَلُ النَّاسِ أخْلاقًا؛ فقدْ أدَّبَه رَبُّه فأحسَنَ تَأْديبَه. وفي هذا الحديث يروي عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص رضي الله عنهما أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يكن فاحشا ولا متفحشا، فلم يكن ناطقا بالفحش ولا متكلفا فيه، فلم يكن الفحش خلقا أصيلا فيه ولا مكتسبا، والفحش: زيادة الشيء على المألوف من مقداره. والمتفحش: الذي يتكلف ذلك ويتعمده؛ لفساد حاله، وقد يكون المتفحش الذي يأتي الفاحشة، فكان صلى الله عليه وسلم لا يصدر منه الكلام القبيح طبعا، ولا تطبعا، ولا مجاراة لغيره، فلا يستفزه السفهاء فيجاريهم في سفههم؛ لأنه أملك الناس لغرائزه وانفعالاته النفسية، فإذا تجرأ عليه سفيه بالشتيمة لا يرد عليه بمثلها امتثالا لأمر ربه الذي أدبه بقوله: {وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ} [الأعراف: 199] . وكان صَلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ يَقولُ: «إنَّ مِن خِيارِكم أحسَنَكم أخْلاقًا»، يعني: أفضلكم هو أحسنكم خلقا. وحسن الخلق هو صفة أنبياء الله تعالى وأوليائه، وحقيقة حسن الخلق بذل المعروف وكف الأذى، وطلاقة الوجه، ومخالطة الناس بالجميل والبشر، والتودد لهم، والإشفاق عليهم، واحتمالهم، والحلم عنهم، والصبر عليهم في المكاره، وترك الكبر والاستطالة عليهم، ومجانبة الغلظة، والغضب، والمؤاخذة. وفي الحديث: الحث على حسن الخلق. وفيه: بيان كمال خلق النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم. وفيه: بيان فضيلة صاحب الخلق الحسن. الدرر السنية
It was not part of the Prophet's character to speak or act indecently, nor would he deliberately do that. Indeed, he was of exemplary good character. The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: The best among you in the sight of Allah are those who possess the best manners; in doing good, having a smiling face, refraining from harming others and bearing harm from them, and associating with people in a pleasant manner.
Benefits from the Hadith
A believer is required to keep away from improper speech and reprehensible acts.
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) possessed perfect manners, and he would only do and say what was good.
Good manners are an arena of competition among the believers. Whoever surpasses others in this regard is one of the best believers and has the most perfect faith among them.

you know what's something i really really love about equius. it's that he's actually the exact kind of person that would put 100% personal stock in horoscopes. his nature trends specifically towards not having any kind of integrity whatsoever, because he outsources all elements of his perception of the world onto systems prescribed onto him. everything he does is informed by the caste system, and even when it seems like he's noticing the flaws in the system, he's just enforcing it further. he takes note of aradia for seemingly having more grace and elegance than any highbloods he knows, and this would seem to suggest an internal conflict around the idea, but in a material sense he's just playing his due role as a highblood in fetishizing her. he also fetishizes gamzee's lack of decorum for someone of his caste, but in a different way where the cognitive dissonance is between what he expects of gamzee vs what gamzee is plainly allowed to be because of his position in society. equius recognizes that he himself is supposed to perform nobility, and he also recognizes that gamzee does not exist under the same pressure, without ever questioning why. he lives and dies by this code because he has no reason to challenge it. he knows his place, be it above or below others, and it's where he dies, a smile plastered on his face
