with a naive smile on his lips and a slightly tilted head, gonta looked at you, meeting your gaze. you had gotten a little lost in thoughts while staring at him, pondering over how pretty he was – until gonta had noticed your stare.

“ah– uhm… you see…” you quickly started stuttering, before laughing nervously, to cover up how flustered you were. “i– i just thought about… something… i didn't even notice i was still looking at you, i'm sorry–!”

gonta tilted his head, this time in the other direction, looking a little confused, but still smiling brightly for you.

“oh, i see! nothing you need to be sorry about, friend!”

“ha… yes uhm… thanks, friend…”

From Danganronpa v3 (Killing Harmony) to Danganronpa v4 (Chaos Reborn) - Part 2

After jumping to a different perspective in the timeline, Gonta begins a new life at a college called Ultimate Academy for Reborn Talents, trying to live normally even while carrying memories that no one else possesses. It is in this environment that he meets Shion Togawa.

Shion is a petite 25-year-old woman with a multifaceted talent. Besides being exceptional at creating plush toys and crocheting, her true favorite talent, she also:

• Can sing;

• Has knowledge of osteology;

• Practices pole dancing;

• Plays the xylophone;

• Paints.

However, contrary to what her abilities suggest, Shion is extremely reclusive.She avoids unnecessary interactions, speaks little, and keeps her distance from most people due to her high difficulty and fear of socialization.

Yet, for some reason, she doesn't avoid Gonta. Perhaps the fact that he never forces anything and always respects Shion's space when she needs it makes her allow him to stay close to her.

Gonta is the one who falls in love with her first. But when he finally decides to confess his feelings (just before the holidays, when everyone would return home for two months) something interrupts everything.

Monokuma/Ultrakuma appears in his typical theatrical performance without warning, and all the students are confined inside the college, transforming the place into a new scene of despair. Everyone's memories are erased, and each student receives an Ultimate title, based on their greatest ability. The only thing Monokuma/Ultrakuma didn't foresee was that Gonta would be the sole exception to this.

The anomalies generated during his execution in the Neo World Program fragmented the normal flow of his consciousness. By breaking the repeated cycle of death, Gonta became incompatible with the system's reboot processes, making him immune to memory erasure.

Gonta acts as if he has also lost his memories, hiding the truth so as not to arouse suspicion from Monokuma and his henchmen. He became immune to death or execution. But he fears for Shion.

Gonta is fully aware that Shion lost her memories just as Monokuma erased the memories of the 99 participants. Everything they experienced together (the short conversations, the shared silences, the small gestures, the restrained smiles, the simple gifts, the hugs) was completely eradicated by the system of despair. For her, none of that existed.

Gonta understands this, even with the sadness of accepting what has happened. But this does not make him back down.

If before he waited for the right time, now he no longer waits. He reconnects with Shion more consistently, without needing to be intrusive or forceful. Gonta starts being there for her whenever she needs him, even if she doesn't ask. Anticipating situations, avoiding conflicts, warding off potential threats before they even arise. Unlike the first time, when everything was slow and uncertain, now the connection between the two forms more easily.

Shion is still reclusive, still avoids most people, but she doesn't push him away. There's something about his presence that doesn't bother her, something that makes her accept his company without question. Gonta begins to act as a silent guardian of Shion. He observes who approaches her, analyzes their behavior, and anticipates risks. He doesn't show it openly, but his actions make it clear: he will not allow her to be put in danger.

Meanwhile, the Killing Game takes hold within the college. With 100 participants, the game becomes longer and more complex, designed to last just over a year. The rules remain, but the scale changes everything. More students mean more variables, more possibilities, more chaos and more despair.

Gonta realizes this quickly. Before, his goal was to be a gentleman who protected all his friends. Now, that's no longer an option. With a game of this scale, deaths and executions are inevitable. Gonta stops pursuing an impossible ideal and abandons the attempt to save everyone when he makes his choice.

It's a choice that now has a very narrow and focused limit, which he will take as absolute.

Now, everything he does, every decision, every move within the game...

is for one single person.
