And for those who don’t ao3, here it is under the cut!
I was walking up the west hallway. I wanted to talk to Mike some, given he's one of the calmest here. No hate to the others, but they can be a little much. However, I find myself not minding as much when it comes to Goldie. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the similar stuff we've been through or similar interests, but I feel closer to him than anyone else. A feeling I've never felt, but sometimes his gimmicks can be a lot, even for this feeling.
As I approached, I heard someone speaking. I stopped right before the window so nobody saw me. I was planning to turn around, leave, and come back later, but then I realized it was Henry speaking, which piqued my interest. I didn't see him often; he was usually at home or in his office, so hearing him talk to Mike outside those two places made me pause.
"I know this is gonna be hard, but you're the only one I can think of that they'd trust," Henry said in a hushed tone, clearly speaking to Mike. "But—" I hear Mike sigh, "Do we have to? Can we not keep them around? Put them in the backroom?" Mike tried to negotiate. Put who in the backroom? "They are becoming a liability." I hear Henry rebuke. "I'm just as sad as you are. But I can't keep it up; it's becoming costly, and people have already threatened lawsuits. Just call them in here, and then take them to the side door." There was a pause, "I don't want to scrap them here." I felt my heart drop, and I slowly backed away. Someone, or someones, were gonna get scrapped?
I begin to speed walk away, my first thought being Goldie. Goldie was the only one who matched the description. But who were the other animatronics? They were speaking as if multiple animatronics were getting scrapped. I hear the intercom crackle to life, usually used only to announce which animatronic is getting repairs or holidays, or even when a kid gets lost during a busy day. "Finn and Goldie, can you come to the office, please?" Mike's voice broke through. My body was moving before I could even process what I heard. Me? I know what I did at Pete's was bad, but I thought this place was gonna be my second chance.
Before I could stop myself, I collided with someone. When I regained my bearings, I realized I had collided with Goldie, "Finn?" He asked as he stepped back, and I quickly launched myself at him, but this time I grabbed his forearms to prevent him from teleporting. "You okay? You look panicked? Can you let go?" He asked, trying to pull away because of how hard I was gripping.
"We need to get to the backroom." "But, Mike —?" "You need to trust me, I'll tell you what's going on when we're in the backroom." I interrupted, trying to push Goldie towards the backroom. He finally relented, allowing me to pull us into the backroom. "Alright, we're in the backroom, now can you tell me what's going on?" Goldie asked as I finally released his arms, making sure to close the door. "They're gonna scrap us!" I blurt out, feeling my hands shake as Goldie stares at me.
"What?"
"What is there not to understand? They're going to scrap us!" I yell back. I felt Goldie grab onto my arm. "Okay, calm down. How do you know? Are you sure?" He asked, and I could see the worry in his eyes. "Yes, I heard them! Henry told Mike to call us into the office so we could be transported to get scrapped! I hadn't even noticed I had started crying until I felt him wipe away my tears. "I don't want us to die…" I sobbed, feeling as he pulled me into an embrace. I felt his tears hit the top of my head.
"What do we do? Do you think Freddy would help us?" I asked hesitantly, and he shrugged. "If Henry's already made the decision, I doubt Freddy can do much." That made me feel worse. "We could try to discourage them." I hear him suggest, that mischievous tone creeping back into his voice. I looked up at him as he pulled back to look at me. "You know, maybe if we show them we aren't to be messed with, maybe they'll let us be?" He continued, glancing. I could tell it was a faux confidence, but it made me feel better. "Like… Home Alone?" "Like what?" "Don't worry about it." I giggled and nodded my head. "Yeah, let's do this."
So here, Goldie and I were filling a bucket with soapy water. "In case Mike or Henry comes after us. We can wet the floor! And they'll slip and fall like a slipping slide." I nodded and helped Goldie carry the big bucket. "I've always enjoyed how the kitchen has two entrances and exits." I pause before laughing. "Oh, I get! Because the entrances count as exits." I replied and continued to help him move the bucket to the exit that leads to the toys area.
"One… Two… Three!" He counted down, and we pushed it over, watching as the kitchen floor became slick and shiny. We heard someone coming close, and we prepared to run until we heard them talking. "Hey, Goldie, Finn, Mike is looking for you two," Bonnie said as he entered the kitchen at a jog. "He said it was urgent—" There was then a loud tumble. Bonnie lay on the floor, face first. "We should go…" I murmured. "Agreed." He took my hand, and we began to run through the toys area laughing.
As we ran together, it helped take my mind off the fact that we're running for our lives. The next thing I knew, we were in the basement. Goldie was opening the breaker box and turning everything off. The rooms were now dark, and it scared me a little, like the grim reaper was to pop out at any moment. I looked over and saw two hovering white dots.—Goldie's eyes. I giggled. "I can still see your eyes, Goldie. They're glowing." I pointed out, and I watched as one eye disappeared. "Oh- well, at least I can be used as a flashlight." He giggled before clearly getting an idea. His pupils are shaped like stars. "Let's hide! I'll have to close my eyes after we hide, but I want to hear Mike's reaction… Or whoever comes down here!" He eagerly suggested.
"Yeah, alright, lead the way, my light," I say dramatically as he uses his glowing pupils to light the way. I couldn't be happier about the dark; it's a good way to hide the fact I'm blushing. I couldn't believe I called him "My Light." What am I? A poet? Certainly not. The only thing I can rhyme with is hocus pocus, and that's atrocious. As we got into position, with his back to my chest as he covered his eyes, I got to view the main scene. I hesitantly wrap my arms around his shoulders. Sadly, his ironically large, big ass top hat made it so I couldn't lay my head on his.
Soon we heard footsteps, and I watched as Freddy seemingly came down the basement stairs and navigated his way in the dark to the breaker. Flipping the switches before heading back up. The basement filled with light once more. "That was underwhelming," I murmured. "Freddy just came down and turned them all back on," I explained as I uncovered Goldie's hands myself.
All night, we ran, we hid, we played. But as we did our thing, my spark returned, but it was as if Goldie's was being drained. The sun was rising. We stood in front of the glass doors. Mike was now successfully trapped in the toys area with super glue and tape. Everyone is trying to free him from our trap. "Are you okay?" I asked, and Goldie looked at me as if he were trying to tell me what he wanted to say telepathically. "It's just… No matter what we do, he's still gonna come after us, Manager's orders." He murmured, "I go to reply," but he cut me off. "I… I wanted to see if maybe only I could be scrapped. So that way you'd be freed." He suggested, and I recoiled.
"What? No. No, I won't allow it." I rebuke. "Even if you did offer, I doubt it'd change much. You're not the one on stage, I am, so the most we could do is get you off." "No!" He shook his head and backed away. I felt tears start to bubble back up. "What do you mean, no?" I asked, following him.
"I… Why wouldn't you want to be safe from scraping?"
"Because you deserve it more!"
"What makes you think that?! What determines that?! We're in the same boat!"
"Because you want to live!"
Silent. It all went silent. I couldn't believe what he had said. I stared; he must've been able to guess what I was gonna ask. "When I was thrown into the backroom, I thought that was my death. I thought—" He choked out a sob. "I thought I'd never see the light of day, I thought it was like the death sentence. I was sitting in that room, waiting for them to pull the plug, pull my plug." A pause as he wiped his tears. "I accepted my death a while ago, I… I'm okay with dying; I've been okay with it. I've been expecting it, but you…" He grabs my hands. "I don't want you to die, and you clearly don't want to die too."
I felt a sob rip through my throat, "I just… I thought coming here would be my second chance, but it ended up being my death sentence. I don't want to die, you're right, but I don't want you to die either." I looked at the ground. "But the idea of living without you hurts me more than any scooper could." I pulled him into an embrace. Sobbing into his shoulder. "What do we do?" I asked, pleading almost. "Whatever we do, I want it to be with you." He said, pulling back. The sunrise perfectly bathed him and me in a beautiful golden-orange glow. He leaned in…
If the last thing I remember before I die is this kiss, I think I'd be fine with that.
