Whiz Comics #2 is famous as the comic book that introduced the world to the original Captain Marvel (yes, I know he actually appeared first in the ashcan volumes Flash Comics and Thrill Comics, but those weren't available to 99.99999999999% of the population).
Whiz Comics was also where Golden Arrow, Ibis the Invincible (and his wife, Taia), and Lance O'Casey made their debuts. Although never as popular as The Big Red Cheese, it was nice to see that those characters still had a home in their original book twelve years later; several other characters whodebuted with them didn't last anywhere near that long.
Sadly, due to the changes in the comic book marketplace, as well as a long-running legal battle with DC Comics, Whiz Comics would be cancelled less than a year later. Cap and Ibis entered comic book limbo for the next twenty years, while the others slipped into obscurity.
