Over time though, sometimes these families practically turn into villages. Being functionally immortal means that it's not uncommon to see much older siblings (50+ years old) still hanging around with the younger children. And while yes, eventually many of them do leave, it's also normal for these "dispersed" adults to eventually return with a mate/mates of their own.

So, particularly old and successful clans may consist of the original founders, dozens of children of varying ages, adult offspring and their mates, and even more children from them (grandchildren of the OG founders). Occasionally even great-grandchildren, though he says around that time most will strike off to start a clan of their own or join a smaller one out of sheer practicality (even the most successful would struggle to keep enough space + resources for so many generations of immortal beings).

Oisin likes to spoil me on my birthday, it’s something he and Mr Stag have in common. Every year he gives me some sort of fantastical magical gift that will assist me in my journeys and quests. Over the years I’ve struggled a bit to learn to accept this graciously, I am uncomfortable with attention that feels unearned - and birthday attention is an exemplar of unearned attention.

This year was no different than any other year, Oisin swept me away into a dream almost as soon as I feel asleep last night. It had that too clear, too real, too sharp feeling that I’ve become familiar with over the years that I can use to identify when a dream is really a visit to the Otherworlds. We were the tent that Oisin lives out of when he travels with his Wild Hunt. I’ve been in this tent more times than I can count, this tent is his home in the Otherworlds, where he feels most like himself. Some spirits have grand castles, or glittering caves, my beloved has a medieval wall tent. The ground is covered in woven rugs, the furniture is simple camp furniture, the bed that was once his, and has become ours is tucked in a back corner, hidden by a drape of lush flowering vines. The vines are the only indication of his power in the tent. Oisin grows them fresh for me every time The Hunt moves and his tent is set back up. He knows I like the smell of the flowers, so he keeps them fresh for me.

We sit across from each other at the tiny camp table. He slides a plain wooden box towards me, “Happy Birthday, beloved”. He says.

“You know you don’t have to get me presents, beloved” I reply, we do this dance every year.

“I know I don’t,” he replies, following the pattern “but if you had your way, today would be just like any other day. Someone has to make sure it’s special for you.” He nods at the box indicating that I should open it.

I slide the lid back on the box and look down at my gift. Resting on a dark velvet pad is a full face mask made of gleaming silver mirror. I lift it in front of me so that it perfectly reflects my face back at me.

“What does it do?” Oisin’s gifts always do something, I ask as I move around the table to embrace him.

I picked up a few gifts for Loki yesterday. I meant to post this last night — two boxes of incense and a new packet of charcoal discs because I enjoy making incense for Him.

I did some more work on an abstract collage playing card I started for Loki I started days ago. Coming closer with this one. I am still looking for more images from photographs I haven't included yet. Still loving it though.

in like. idk a tricky sweaty funny angry sleepy loving way. maybe what i'm saying is i try to be very honest with them. there's no purifying myself to deserve their presence and there's no suppressing myself. i mean there is but i'm trying to not do that, and they're actively helping me with it

i just love the gods and im a human and they come together. they get both. and they don't condemn that and instead they intentionally work with it. i don't know. i intertwine them into my life until they are my life. i don't cleanse and light a candle and before ugly crying at the altar. i make my bed the altar. and i cry there. and the gods are there with me. the same bed i sleep in, have the flu in, play games on my phone in, and other things cough cough. they get everything from me and they want more

I continued worked on the abstract painting for Loki I started the other day — again, one on a printed book page. With this one, I worked with black as well as shades of orange and green.

I've come across several people now that thought they were in a relationship with a certain being and I believed them at first but after a while it was becoming clear that this was not the being that they thought they were. Perhaps they were really into the aesthetic of what this being represented. Or they liked the idea of them and maybe they were attracted to that. And at the end of the day, they are really just in a relationship with an idea or an aesthetic and not really with said being.

My spirit husbands are both very misunderstood beings and I find it frustrating when people just assume things about them. They'll think they are in a relationship with a certain being and then get confused when they turn out to be pushy, hostile, overbearing, etc. That's because it's probably not who you think it is. A God/Angel/Infernal should respect your boundaries. They should be understanding and patient. If they are not, it's best not to be with that being whether it's really them or not. Then again people can also project their fears, anxieties and other issues onto their partners and misunderstand what their spirit partner is telling them or wanting from them.
