For we are God’s masterpiece. Evening Prayer - 10 Jan 2022
I didn’t know that I was making plans to make my day easier back three weeks ago. It sure turned out that way. Were you at work in some disguise, God, setting things up so that I have been able to focus much more on being than on doing today? It feels like your handiwork.
Thank you for the support of a good friend. Thank you for supportive colleagues. Thank you for this opportunity to get away for a little while. Thank you for peace at the end of the day. And, of course, thank you for your handiwork. Amen.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Every child in the womb is God’s handiwork and a part of God’s plan.

Ephesians 2:8-10 says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
We, as believers, cannot boast that our works give us salvation: they don't. Only the Grace of God- His gift to us - saves us. We have faith that Christ died on the Cross for our ransom.
And we are God's workmanship - His handiwork - created in His image. His plans for us were made long before we were born; God had work for us to do before we were conceived.
We have to remember that our good works are a product of our faith. We serve others because we believe in Jesus and we know that in serving others, we are really serving Him (see Matthew 25:40).
When we accept Jesus, we become a new creation in Him (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). The old is gone and we are made new.
God's grace is amazing, isn't it? That He loves us so that He gives this gift so we may spend eternity with Him.
