Geneviève Lacasse was a goaltender for several professional Canadian Ice hockey. She was also the goaltender for Team Canada at the Sochi 2014 games where the team won a gold medal, and at the PyeongChang 2018 games winning the silver medal.
In September 2024, Lacasse announce she was retiring from the sport.
Emerance Maschmeyer is a professional ice hockey goaltender for the Vancouver Goldeneyes. She has also competed twice for Team Canada’s Women’s Ice Hockey team where they won a gold medal in 2022 (Beijing) and a silver medal in 2026 (Milano/Cortina).
Lacasse and Maschmeyer were in 2023. In September 2024, they announced the birth of their son, Beckham. Maschmeyer said:
“It’s surreal that we are now mothers. And for Mother’s Day, we're not just celebrating our mothers and grandmothers but also ourselves. Beckham has changed our entire world. It’s been the most beautiful journey, the most challenging, I think both of us have been on. But I find that he teaches us so much every single day and puts everything into perspective."
