Go Forward

“And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.’” Exodus 14v15 (NKJV)

The Israelites stood frozen at the edge of the Red Sea. Behind them, Pharaoh’s army; in front of them, impossible waters. Panic was rising, fear was loud, and yet, God’s command was clear: Go forward. Not sideways, nor backward, nor stuck in place… forward.

Fear will have you waiting for a sign when God is already giving you a command. Fear will have you seeking the perfect plan when God is just asking you to take the next step. Some of the greatest breakthroughs in your life will only come after motion. The Red Sea didn’t split while they stood still, it split when they started walking.

If you are waiting to have it all figured out before you move, you will miss your miracle. If you are waiting to never make a mistake, you will never make progress. Movement is messy and growth can be risky, but God isn’t in the business of keeping you safe in fear, He is in the business of leading and walking with you through what looks impossible. Stop waiting for the whole road to be revealed. It is like driving at night, you may only see a few feet ahead, but if you keep moving, the path unfolds. Let go of perfection and let go of the need to see it all before you start. Forward is not flawless, forward is faithful.

God told His people through Isaiah, “Enlarge the place of your tent… stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; do not spare; lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left” (Isaiah 54:2–3 NKJV). That kind of expansion only happens when you stop crying and start walking.

Reflection / Prayer:

Lord Jesus,

You speak with such gentleness and truth.

You remind me that I don’t need to be perfect to begin—

I just need to begin.

Even if I stumble, even if I tremble,

even if my first steps are clumsy—

You are pleased that I stepped.

Thank You for being patient with my process,

for seeing beauty in my awkward beginnings,

and for walking with me from the very first moment.

Let me not delay because of fear,

but trust that with You,

every humble beginning leads to eternal purpose.
