So I'm virago. And straight.
Idk like, I've been through the tags for a bit and it all fits now.
I see the vision. What have you.
In life, I was straight or the default when young. At 14 I thought that nearly kissing a girl on the mouth accidentally meant I am bi.
So I went with it for all of high school and into college.
And then at some point for like 3 years I identified as a lesbian. Out of nowhere and uncalled for really.
I thought wanting to be friends with a woman classmate meant I also want to date her. Spoiler: nope, that's not what that was.
But then I remembered about the crushes on men from my past, especially the latest one. That one was unavoidable because it was so powerful it almost wrecked me.
But then maybe ace? After all I haven't fucked anyone yet, not even as much as a kiss all throughout my life. 32 years of nothing.
Eventually I admitted to myself that I was straight. Do you know when that happened? Tonight, like 10 minutes ago.
I read some posts on here and came to my own conclusions.
I used to say "when will I find a girlfriend?" but in reality not feeling it. I used to do a lot of things to imply that maybe I will meet my "future wife" somewhere and be happy.
But happiness is fickle if it's not searched for in places that actually are for you.
I never felt at home in the lesbian or bisexual or even asexual communities because I was not one of them.
I literally went into Tumblr tonight with the blog url "ace-virago" only to change it to "virago-knight" because for once I understood that life and sexuality are simple.
You just like who you like. Easy right?
Easy enough if you think clearly. But as someone who was self shaming myself out of my straightness, it wasn't simple at all.
The "if I'm straight I won't have a community anymore" sat heavy on me and that's only because I never really thought I was like all the other straight people... Shall I call them mainstraight?
I just was... Different. Throughout my life I couldn't fit in because I was GNC. GNC enough that people would think I'm gay or bi. But I was not. I just liked men a lot in ways that defied the hetnorm way of doing things.
But now. What is going to happen? I'm scared to date because I don't want PIV sex. If there's any penetration going on it's either going to be oral sex... Gentle... Or anal (pegging).
But if I come with this proposition to mainstraight guys they'll laugh me out of the bedroom. Or worse. Force me in some way or another.
So all this to say. I'm straight and virago. Every label comes with its downsides... But this describes me a lot. It just fits.
Watch me change it again in a few weeks because all I ever do is change labels but not myself as a person.
- want to spoil men rotten
- be GNC while doing this
It's just... So alienating to find out you're straight but not like the other straights. Because it's not talked about. Not as much as everyone else.
I hope this will change in the upcoming years. And I hope virago women talk more about their experiences. Mollis as well ofc. We need to stay together.
