The summer heat is always oppressive in Amherst. Even breathing is terrible. Going outside and trying to inhale deeply feels like John pinning him down when they fight, a hundred and twenty pounds of teenage hockey player shoving Ryan face-first into the creaky floorboards. Or dirt. Or wherever they piss each other off this time. The air around him is firm and unyielding, pressing down until his ribs are concave and his lungs can no longer expand. If it was John holding him down, Ryan would put up a fight – six year and forty pound disadvantage be damned, he can still land a good punch or two – but he can’t fight this heat. There’s no squirming until he can free a limb or two to pummel it, no clawing or biting or kicking. Instead, the air sinks through his skin, heavy and thick, cementing his bones to the bed like the world's worst weighted blanket.

i think the story seems really cool and the designs all look very beautiful, but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t slightly disappointed with the female characters’ attire just a little bit..
