MAKATI, NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION -- From a global pageant of misunderstanding into a competitive game show. American and Filipino families have yet to argue in a positive sense on the iconic stage where humor meets heart and friendships are tested through laughter.

Comedian and host 'Steve Broderick Harvey' will join Kapuso star 'Dingdong Gonzalez Dantes' on a special episode of "Family Feud: Philippines". The expected video call is either to be taped or live broadcast in an upcoming daily new episode of this localization of the show. Both teams will battle each other in a series of hilarious challenges to win the grand prize with the charity of their choice and bragging rights.

If you're unfamiliar, Family Feud is a hugely popular game show celebrating its 50th golden anniversary. Created by the late 'Mark Leo Goodson', it first aired nationally on ABC in July 1976 & CBS in July 1988, and has since become a mainstay for both networks. The syndicated version in late-mid September 1977 becoming a staple of television, especially between afternoon and primetime slots.

From 2010 until today, Harvey hosted the show by naming the most popular answers to survey questions to win cash and prizes. While one regional adaptation in the Philippines aired the first series on TV5 in late-mid November 2001 (formerly known as 'Associated Broadcasting Corporation'), two months after the 9/11 attacks in New York, United States of America.

The show moved to Global Media Arts (GMA) Network in mid-October 2008, following Kapamilya Channel in early mid-April 2016 (formerly ABS-CBN), and returned once again over GMA Network with Dantes returning as game master host in late-March 2022. Nickelodeon Action News obtains all the data from Wikipedia, over 70 countries worldwide since the early 80s inception, with at least 15–20 active international versions currently operating on respective TV networks as of this year.

Beyond his role as a game show host in America, Harvey is perhaps equally remembered for his infamous mix-up at the 64th Miss Universe pageant event in late-December 2015, when he mistakenly announced Colombia's Ariadna Maria Gutierrez. He publicly apologized with full responsibility Gutierrez as the winner in 'Las Vegas, Nevada', only to correct himself and name the true victor, the Philippines' Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. Harvey took full responsibility, offering a heartfelt public apology for the blunder.

The real winner goes to the Philippines' Wurtzbach, according to his cue card. The Brighton Bugle received an official, classic brief statement: "Nobody feels worse about this than me. I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Ms. Colombia and Ms. Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel [dead] terrible", he noted. Scottish-Colombian travel entrepreneur 'Jeremy Cunninghame Jauncey' tied the knot with Wurtzbach in late-March 2023 at a private beach ceremony in Seychelles. Now, they are celebrated together as a couple today.

As part of this week's upcoming crossover episode, studio players of "Family Feud: Philippines" will have a chance to win PHP200,000 pesos, plus a charity donation of their choice worth PHP20,000 (or between U$D3,321 and U$D332 dollars). Prizes exceeding PHP10,000 are subject to Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)'s 20% final withholding tax under Republic Act #10963 or the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law of 2017.

In the U.S. syndicated version, the expected Fast Money Jackpot pays U$D20,000 for 5 days straight with occasional winning streak bonus of U$D30,000 (or PHP7.83 million) that can be split equally among the 4 or 5 family members and is also subject to federal & state taxes.

Whether us Americans or from the Philippines, the real winner is laughter. Nearly a quarter-million pesos on the line for families willing to test their bonds and celebrate what makes them unique. That's a power duo we didn't know we needed. And let's be real: after the Miss Universe mix-up, Harvey's probably extra motivated to keep those cue cards straight this time! But hey, that's the beauty of Family Feud: it's equal parts strategy, luck, and sheer, unfiltered chaos. And with Harvey's energy and Dantes' charm, this episode's going to be a masterclass in game-show gold.
