I chose Science in the News and my article is in National Geographic and was written by Jane J. Lee. The first biofluorescent reptile ever seen was found recently near the Solomon Islands. The endangered hawksbill sea turtle is the first reptile ever seen to be glowing. This turtle has biofluorescence, this means it is able to reflect the blue light hitting a surface and re-emit it as a different color. Scientists have found glowing coral and other marine plants. They have even found them in many fish, sharks, and rays.

I chose this article to write about because this is about something that nobody has ever seen before and I thought it would be really cool to write about a glowing turtle. Scientists have never expected to see biofluorescence in reptiles. Biofluorescense is different from bioluminescence, which is when animals either produce their own light, or host bacteria that they give off light.
