Trying to beat a gleeok? Always taking the long way around to avoid fighting them? Busy doing a sidequest in a specific area and suddenly a blood moon is happening and the gleeok you beat yesterday is about to come back with a vengeance?
Don’t panic! Try out Peggy’s patented gleeok killing method(Tm) which with the proper preparation and execution will have you laughing in all three of that beastie’s faces!
Preferably a multi-shot bow (non-metal if it’s a lightning gleeok), though you can do it without if necessary. I like to beat a bunch of yiga and stock up on duplex bows.
Lots and lots of eyeballs. Keese are good for farming, and I especially recommend ice/fire eyeballs for flame and ice gleeoks
Go beat a silver enemy or a captain construct— just get something with high fuse-attack. I prefer moblins myself but anything works. Fuse your powerful item to a two-handed weapon of some ilk that won’t immediately break. Master sword also works, but the two-handed weapon is better for reasons I’ll explain in a bit
Either get yourself an elixir that raises your attack really well, or have the barbarian armor ready. If you have the armor it works best, because then if it’s a flame or ice gleeok, you can drink an elixir to proof against that and have the attack up too.
Firstly, get your barbarian armor on. Dye it a cool color for extra intimidation tactics. Preferably approach the gleeok from above so you can get in hits before it notices you much, and also freeze time and get off more arrows. Get out your multi-shot bow and some eyeballs, and start shooting at those heads! If it’s a good bow, the heads will go down really quick.
Now get out your two-handed weapon, stand by one of the heads, and hold down the charge button. Link will start spinning around, dealing rapid damage, and if your weapon is good and you do it right you can usually get a good fourth or even third of the gleeok’s health gone. Rinse and repeat.
The latter stage when it flies way up is trickier, though if you’re quick enough with your bow, sometimes you can shoot it down before it gets all the way up. But not always. If it does, don’t panic. I usually switch back to my highest defense outfit for this stage, because especially with lightning and flame gleeoks the attacks are hard to avoid.
Bob and weave, do anything you can to get yourself up to where the gleeok is— or at least close enough to fire off some arrows. Hopefully you’ve gotten its health down enough that once you knock it from the sky the impact kills it, but if that isn’t the case, just head down there and finish it off with your weapon (put your barbarian gear back on if necessary).
And congratulations! You’ve beaten the gleeok!
Now reap your rewards by collecting the pulsing pile of guts and various useful monster bits. Or perhaps letting out a fearsome war cry that has the added benefit of scaring anyone in the room with you. Cheers!
