Weekend at last (had the whole week off, but there is a certain feeling about Friday) . I recently talked about Amari with the Ramazzotti which most of us agreed to is a brillant Amaro . Today however I want to talk a little about Vermouth, before mixing myself a delicious cocktail . Vermouth is a fortified wine flavored with certain spices and herbs, including tree bark, seeds and flowers and in Europe, wormwood. The best known examples are from northern Italy, as there are several large manufactures located in Torino in Piedmont. High quality vermouth is also made in France . There are red and white versions. White vermouth is most famously used in a classic martini, while red vermouth, which is generally sweet, is used in a Manhattan cocktail, among others. Equal parts of dry and sweet vermouth constitute a Perfect Manhattan. Vermouth, with its herbal ingredients, can also settle the stomach. A win-win really! . The Punt E Mes is one of my all-time favourite red vermouth. It has a dark brown color being delicate and filled with spicy aromas. It has a satiny, crisp, cloying full body and a very long cocoa, citrus, prune and mint finish . This vermouth works excellently in cocktails like Negroni, Americano and a Espresso Martini as well. Hecha por la gente de @poli_grappa la ginebra Poli Marconi es hecha en un alambique llamado Crysopea, que funciona como un baño de maria y al vacío. Es una creación única de Poli y ha permitido producir nuevos tipos de grappa y de ginebra, siendo esta última fabricada desde 2015. . La ginebra es creada a partir de una infusión de bayas de enebro, uva moscatel, pino de montaña, pino suizo, menta, cardamomo y cilantro. Estos botánicos son típicos de la meseta de Asiago, al norte de la región de Veneto en Italia, de donde es originaria la familia Poli. . En copa la ginebra emite aromas intensos y firmes de enebro, reforzados por aromas de pino. También hay notas florales y de eucalipto. . En boca son esas mismas notas florales las que más destacan inicialmente, seguidas de uva moscatel y pino, eucalipto y notas de pimienta, cardamomo y cítricos en el retrogusto. .
