So after seeing the ending of episode 2x10, Iβm seriously asking: Who am I supposed to ship with whom?
Gillodec or Gilloto?
βCause I can see both of them happening right about now.
And I donβt know anymore which one I want to happen more.

I'm sorry I know the show is pointing us towards morgan and karadec but am I the only one who sees the potential between morgan and soto? Especially having just finished S2 E10 when they touch hands and Morgan's like what did you do? Like omg they have such good chemistry omg omg. I need to write something lesbian about them
Thoughts on a very blue High Potential where they thought they could do a Morgan-exit-fakeout-despite-no-her-no-show twice (first time being the pilot) and what that turned into was a bit of a character study of how Morgan's touched everyone's life in a way that should make people happy no matter who they ship
why am I getting 911-esque other-shoe-dropping vibes
and what the hell was that song
ooh Morgan in all blue, cute and potentially symbolic
and Oz is also in all blue hmm (#ozdillory)
Morgan Gillory phone prankster, this I can believe
nice little slightly-different infodump
why did that little interaction sound more sibling-dynamic than romance-coded
more signs of neurodivergent Morgan
uh oh (to use a colloquial term I heard on SVU) hello rat squad
as the montage proves her wrong
Karadec seems to have a similar gift to Morgan just with interpersonal interactions
and of course his Hermione-Granger-ass helped create the course
finally an actual sergeant
and hello Wagner in all his barely-audible glory
ok why does he want to try and step into Morgan's role other than just to get dominant over Soto
and you could cut the tension between Karadec and Wagner with a knife (and I'm wondering how many people, if any revelations of bad-guy!Wagner take a while, are going to use this episode to see his wanting to step into Morgan's role as some kind of weird kismesis-y him-going-both-ways-and-trying-to-move-in-on-Karadec)
so he does have a bit of a sense of humor
ten metaphorical bucks says this stuff she's learning is going to be relevant
and I didn't mean just something that soon/small but Morgan's never met a rule she can't flout
phone prank happens again right in front of both of them
why is everything weirdly blue
Wagner kinda feeling like a creepier Agent Booth
whoa dude don't run roughshod over the fucking squad
I saw Oz giving a Look
feeling kinda 911 vibes off some of this backstory stuff
and of course "detective school" has shitty cafeteria food
thankfully Karadec's here with the save and the takeout (another little family-coded moment despite how monogamous-shippers of them might focus too entirely on that shoulder touch)
moral alignments becoming clear
this feels like a little bit of parallel-the-b-plot stuff
Morgan's rubbing off on Karadec
and here's where Morgan gets to absolutely show the fuck off
nice little pseudo-meta with the this feels staged
should we really be breaking the rules this loud
Oz in one of those shirts again and kinda symbolic how the palette changed when Morgan's not there and this is interesting Wagner actually wanting Morgan to help
uh oh busted
anyone think of the DCU when Cadmus mentioned
and anyone else think the PSTD thing might have been personal for Wagner
why does this feel like another case-that-could-foreshadow-Wagner's-game
Morgan's got another little game of her own afoot
why aren't we texting this
what, did that come straight from the elevator pitch
what's IAB guy's beef (wonder if it's anything like it iirc was on the French show iykwim)
fake-me-out once you can't fool me again this ain't even the mid-season finale never mind season finale so I don't have to angst over
team realizing how much they need her
why is his speech pattern sounding a little like Morgan's
Soto finally gets to speak her mind
"moves that you're making", huh, moves, chess, hint
Soto defending Morgan's honor in a way that should make the shippers happy
and Morgan and Daphne "finishing each other's sandwiches"
I saw that look from Oz
Morgan talking about the show a little here?
they're all not okay
and Oz also in whatever holster thingie I said looked like bondage gear when Karadec was wearing it last time
and Morgan just figured out blue's clues
ok-what-the-all-three-doing-the-infodump
feels like the kind of murder you'd see on Elsbeth
okay the kind of late-night thing you'd usually see with Morgadec with them this time
and now Soto being a little chaotic and is this some kind of enemy mine
a little bit of backstory that gives a little clue to Wagner's motives but not all of it just like Brilliant Minds with Charlie (but even if Wagner isn't a bad-guy-proper it's gonna take a lot more to make me sympathetic towards him)
and let's play will the without-Morgan-there's-no-show of it all mean [whatever we should call the High Potential fandom] cools it with any sort of cop-ethics-discourse about the photos I'm wondering how Soto got
so does this mean we aren't going to get anything with Solomon and Karadec as the equivalent of that one storyline on the French show because Soto's gonna somehow get him fired beforehand or is dude just that cliche about the most repressed in normal life people being the least repressed between the sheets and dude's a lot more Buck-1.0-but-if-he'd-always-known-the-bi-thing with his love life than the impression he gives off makes it seem
well ain't that just the most Gilloto way to end an episode never mind the full-circle of it all (seriously, this felt like it should have been a season finale almost) and how no kids made it feel like a date but what the hell was the song playing in that scene? It was fucking beautiful but based on the snippets of lyrics I was able to catch ("I was a fallen tree" "I was a breaking wave, you were solid ground" and something about a new kind of light or something) I couldn't find what the hell song it was
so next week we've got Susan Kelechi Watson (aka Beth Pearson from This Is Us aka why does it seem like every Pearson but Kate has had their actor see TV success) as Karadec's artist ex Lucia and, well, make of her being a recurring guest star what you will
I swear I'm not just grasping at straws for patterns because blorbos but for some weird reason WolfNichols on Brilliant Minds is kind of giving me hope for Gilloto on High Potential because it'd be a two-nickels thing if Gilloto did get together said two-nickels thing being "if I had a nickel for every time a lead in a broadcast procedural that debuted during the 2024-2025 season ended up catalyzing sparks with a more-by-the-book same-sex colleague because that colleague was helping them deal with the case of a somehow-lost man named Roman..."
To help the fandom cope with this being the first Tuesday of the annoyingly-long midseason "High-atus" I made the kind of Disney theme mix (figured appropriate because ABC, I might make a general-non-Disney-Broadway one but that's gonna take me longer as more songs to pick from) people used to make on 8tracks god around a decade ago holy shit and make into YouTube videos with song clips and DeviantArt fanart or screenshots or w/e a decade before that. I've got a song for every major character I felt like I had enough to go on to give me one and one for every individual ship-link in polycrimes (Edit, added a better one for Wagner and ship themes for pairings with him)
Key
Morgan
Karadec
Soto
Daphne
Oz (and no, this isn't just because of a certain previous role of that actor's though that is what helped me break what-felt-like-a-tie-in-terms-of-fitting-him between this song and Stand Out from A Goofy Movie)
Wagner (changed his from what it originally was now that we've seen the whole picture (or at least whole picture so far #WagnerLives))
Ludo (I was half-tempted to give him the Work Song from Cinderella but then told myself no that's the kind of slightly-fitting-but-meme-y pick that people would make in the era of character theme song YouTube videos (like how you could tell a Homestuck character themes thing was being taken seriously by its creator if they didn't give Jane Crocker "Cooking By The Book" from LazyTown) and the one I ended up with for him fits his actual character, also friendly reminder if you want him back boycott NBC sitcom Stumble premiering on the 7th, let's tank its ratings so it's axed so he doesn't have that conflict)
Ava
Morgan/Karadec (because those two do have Certain Parallels to this Disney couple in their story-so-far)
Morgan/Soto
Morgan/Daphne
Morgan/Oz
Morgan/Wagner
Karadec/Soto (idk why I just felt this fit)
Karadec/Daphne
Oz/Karadec (flipped name order as the other way turns into the percentage sign and no I didn't just pick this for Ozdec because it would have been for Morgadec if I hadn't seen the parallel I saw)
Karadec/Wagner
Soto/Daphne
Soto/Oz (best Disney song I could find about loving someone seemingly out of your league as I imagine (be it as part of the whole polycrimes situation or just looking at this as a monosexual rarepair) anything between them would likely involve, say, Oz trying to bite off more than he can chew in some aspect of his work or w/e (even down to life in danger again) to prove himself "worthy" enough that his feelings for her don't give him imposter syndrome)
Soto/Wagner (even thinking about if-they-could-become-a-thing like I was doing for the pairings that haven't had anything that could be taken as a canon shiptease they were hard but I felt this worked for a very-different-people-coming-together-but-not-enemies-to-lovers thing)
Daphne/Oz (because of course a song this adorable (when taken as out of context as one must to assign a Disney song to characters/pairings from other works) could only fit this particular link of the squad)
Daphne/Wagner (if you know some of my headcanons about Daphne...)
Oz/Wagner (that's where I put the Goofy Movie song)
Polycrimes as a whole (as family can still apply to a polycule)

Friendly reminder that past het relationships aren't proof someone can't have same-sex ones
True in general for both fiction and reality but specifically regarding High Potential Lt. Soto mentioning an ex-husband and people thinking that means Morgan/Soto ain't gonna happen. Friendly reminder we now know she has an ex but still don't know why they divorced, for all we know High Potential is sorta-kinda-even-if-not-on-purpose ripping off 911 and we're basically seeing the other side of a Michael Grant situation as maybe different-gender-socializations meant Hector wasn't trying to paper-clip-and-chewing-gum some semblance of a family together and the split (which perhaps also meant him splitting, insert part of what fuels eventual Gilloto even if just in a fic being the promise of stability that both severely need) was a lot sooner after the coming-out (and it's also script-flipping enough that we're not gonna lose our lieutenant).
(and of course the ironically funny thing is many a fan-of-both-911-and-High-Potential has talked about Morgan and Buck same-energy-ing and someone on Ao3 actually wrote a Buck/Michael rarepair fic, "The Old Man And The Willow")
This isn't just because Morgan Gillory is canonically a Brandi Carlile superfan but this song just feels Gilloto to me enough I wish someone would make a vid/AMV with it (and I'm also wondering if High Potential cast singing talents are good enough and they genuinely want to explore Gilloto at least for a time, the actual show could work some kind of karaoke thing or w/e in like Abbott did and two-nickels it with one half of a white-and-Hispanic wlw couple singing to the other (as this song was given a big popularity boost by Grey's Anatomy's musical episode full of covers and it was Callie who sung it on that show))
gillotto btw im still workin on that comic inspired by you, but i hit a snag and it may end abruptly after 2 pages since it wasn't really planned and started out as a spontaneous doodle lol. Also i have another comission to finish now π«
