Sat on this ask for a while because I didn't know how to answer it, but I'll try to do so now 🤍

Something about Giliath: I recycled him from a previous character I had made for a long-defunct DND campaign. Giliath was originally supposed to be a ranger; but I ended up making him a paladin much like this first character of mine, Narufain (also a cooler-hued tiefling, also an ex-worshiper of Asmodeus). Naru is essentially a younger, fiestier version of Gilly. I've even floated the idea of them being brothers or half brothers because of how alike in all other respects they are.

Something silly: Gilly has major social anxiety and is also just really, really bad at talking. He has low charisma which is not a stat you want to have as a paladin. It's a bit of a running theme in a lot of my fics:

(Kind of cringing looking back at these, but these are just a few examples that I managed to find while combing through my published fics lol. There's definitely more though, both published and unpublished/deleted. The last one felt more badass to me at the time of writing... oh well!)

Something serious: Gilly is a healer. All paladins technically are, but this is like Gilly's *thing*. What he lacks in charisma he makes up for in intelligence (a next-to-useless ability in DND and especially in bg3, but I just really am a fan of knight characters and dorky nerd characters so I decided to combine the two. This also makes for some interesting and humorous flaws, as seen above).

Something about his relationship with Gale: Speaking of intelligence, he has a penchant for learning about space, which makes him and Gale kind of ideal to me. These guys are just nerdy little goofballs and if this was a cheesy 90s romcom they would bond over having milk poured on their hair and getting their faces smashed into the toilet. Anyway, these two work a lot. To me. Gilly can protect and heal Gale and make him laugh with how awkward he is. Gale can likewise protect Gilly and teach him about the stars and magic and love (which is its own kind of healing).

Strengths: Physically very strong! He's my little powerhouse lol. He's also smart and knows a lot about healing. He is such a nerd tbh he knows a little about everything and I'm still toying with the idea of giving him an interest in astral knowledge but I don't want to like,,, make him OP or whatever. He's also good at reading people and picking up on hidden motives and if you get past his prickly defenses he can be very sweet.......
