part 1/?
What we learned from the Unlocked Map
The Dizznees and Elwin are Canadian - which makes sense, considering theyāre walked over by the other characters and simply put up with it.
There is an elf-graveyard off the coast of Quebec
Candleshade is West Coast
Everglen is New-England East Coast
Which reflects the Sencens and Vackers - the Sencens are new money and the Vackers are old money. As someone familiar with the difference, itās actually surprisingly accurate.
Mysterium is in Florida which explains why the Nobles hate it
Gildingham is in South America (which makes sense, considering it inspired the stories of El Dorado)
Havenfield is off the coast of California. So thatās cool, Sophieās close to her old home.
The Shores of Solace are in Australia. Interesting.
Eternalia is in Asia - but seeing as Fitz said that it inspired the legends of Shangri-La, we already knew that.
Atlantis is in the Mediterranean. Meh. I canāt think of any jokes here~
Foxfire is in Egypt. Thatās cool.
We already knew that Lumenaria was on the channel islands
Stina is a lesbian Swedish/Nordish Lesbian Unicorn Girl
Ravagog is in Russia
Loamnore is in Russia/Mongolia
I donāt really have anything for the other locations~
I complain about theĀ aesthetics of each of the Lost Cities cuz Iām bored
Eternalia: The multi-colored sparkly buildings bring to mind a gaudy an over opulent Baroque concerto. Trying to take it all in is probably like hitting play on all your liked songs and having to jump between The Beatles and Cardi B.
Mysterium: It seems normal until you think about how Problematic⢠it is that all of the Talentless and working class citizens basically work in buildings that look like Soviet Block Housing.
Atlantis: Going to Atlantis is probably like walking down 5th Avenue and being likeĀ āI canāt spend $10,000 on a pair of high heels.ā Also this is what happens when we fight global warming by building sea walls.
Gildingham: I get that using gold is supposed to be symbolic, but building your house out of a soft metal of purpose seems really dumb imo. But I honestly just imagine this as the El Dorado set from that Dora movie but with goblins.
Loamnore: Dwarves live in isolated caves surrounded by precious gems. I respect the hell out of that. But going to get groceries every week must be a pain.
Ravagog: So there are like two parts to this city: the nice part and the bad part. The nice part is pretty normal, save for all the state military parades Dimitar probably has. The bad part is where the economically disadvantaged work in factories until they literally collapse. This feels like the beginning of a Marxist critique on society.
