Cynthia Brehm is the Chair of the Bexar County Republican Party in Texas. On June 2, she posted her theory that the police murder of George Floyd was a “staged event” intended to reduce African-American approval of Donald Trump.

“These officers were involved in something, I’m not sure exactly what, but something is just not adding up.

“Also this supposed officer is now missing from his home, no where to be found has the smell of MK Ultra activation.

“I think that there is at the very least the ‘possibility’, that this was a filmed public execution of a black man by a white cop, with the purpose of creating racial tensions and driving a wedge in the growing group of anti deep state sentiment from common people, that have been already been psychologically traumatized by COVID 19 fears.

“Historically, in election years and politically contested areas or groups, racial or gun violence incidents are becoming common place.

“Considering the rising approval level of President Trump in the black community an event like this was entirely ‘Predictable’”

Behmer has since deleted her Facebook post.

City of Ventura names Gilbert Garcia as new Finance and Technology Director

Ventura City Manager Mark Watkins announced during the City Council meeting that he has appointed Gilbert Garcia as the city’s new Finance and Technology Director.

Mr. Garcia brings more than 17 years of experience in municipal budgeting and finance and has managed Information Technology. He has worked with full service cities and is currently the Administrative Services Director for the City of Lincoln, California, where he oversees Budget, Finance, Information Technology, and Central Services.

Mr. Garcia’s prior experience includes working with the City of Oakland for eight years where he moved through progressively responsible positions including: Deputy Director in the Police Department and Assistant Budget Director in the Budget Office. He also spent nine years with the City of Stockton, again rising from Senior Accounting Office Assistant to Program Manager in the Budget Office.

Mr. Garcia earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fresno and is a member of the Government Finance Officers’ Association.

“In addition to his technical expertise, Gil brings with him solid management skills, creativity, and a demonstrated record of fostering teamwork and accountability,” said Mark Watkins, City Manager. “We are looking forward to having Gil join our team and fill this important leadership position. I think he will be a great fit with our staff and continue our commitment to effectively manage the City’s finances.”

“I look forward to joining Ventura’s energized management team, making a positive difference, and being part of such a beautiful and family-oriented community,” said Garcia.

Mr. Garcia was selected through an open, competitive recruitment process and will assume this position on February 17, 2015.
