I'm in a giffing mood, but I don't have any specific ideas, so:
I'm open for gif requests!
Fandoms: Project Hail Mary, Leverage and Leverage Redemption, Dead Boy Detectives, if you've seen a fandom on my blog there's a decent chance I'll gif for it!
Types: plain, captioned, or decorated/aesthetic (I'm using GIMP/BIMP so combining two moving pictures is not something I can do easily, but I can add still decorations!)
Specialties: brightening dark shots and bringing out detail!
Ah, Tumblr gif size limit, my mortal nemesis, we meet again!
Hey! I was wondering if you're doing your GIFs by way of Photoshop.
I'm getting into GIF making, either for tumblr or personal purposes, so I'm learning to make them and trying to find the right presets, but the problem I have is the size of the GIF is enormous (~50Mb for a 3-second GIF). I was wondering if you have some advice for me.
I usually download the movie, record my screen through OBS Studio (better than Filmora, where the quality drops significantly), then convert the .mkv file to .mp4 and I suspect this may be the first part of my problem, that my video files are too big?
Then, I get the files into Photoshop and I suspect the presets add A LOT of size to the file, especially the noise filter. I'm not getting great results by limiting the GIF to 24 FPS and I can drop from 256 to 64 colours, but the file will always be too big and not as low as the ones I see on tumblr (-10Mb, always).
There it is. I was just wondering if you have any advice for me, which I would greatly appreciate. Thanks!
hello there!
yes, i use photoshop for my gifs. i can explain my process a bit, with some tips i found make a great difference when it comes to quality. it's all under the cut.
Jfc, I hate it so much when I struggle so hard with the colouring of a gifset and then decide to just give up and hope other people don't notice how fucking ugly it is...
