👻 Boo! Meet the ghost mantis (Phyllocrania paradoxa). This species’ leaf-like appearance helps it disappear among foliage, concealing it from predators and prey. When tasty critters—like grasshoppers and moths—wander too close, it uses its powerful forelimbs to snatch them up! This insect has a wide range across Africa and can be spotted in Cameroon, Ethiopia, and Madagascar.

a few yrs ago i was mucking around with a danny phantom concept of a bug kingdom in the ghost zone, and a specific ghost mantis character in it. i was reminded of it recently and decided to give the design a facelift :p
do you have any facts maybe about the phyllocrania paradoxa ? that is, if it hasnt been done already, if not, do any other mantis :D

TODAY'S FACT IS
Did you know that the Ghost Mantis (Phyllocrania paradoxa) is a small African mantis? It resembles an old dried leaf, giving it top tier camouflage for such a successful ambush predator. This camouflage helps it blend in to hunt better and to help it hide from the birds that would eat it.
