Ghost bats in the new wicked movie? (Spoilers)
So this is Macroderma gigas, also known as the ghost bat. It’s known for being a white, ghostly bat. In the new Wicked movie, when Glinda is dressing for her wedding small white bats are seen flying around her helping her with her outfit. I can’t find a pic/clip from the movie for the life of me probably bc it just recently came out, but I believe these may be ghost bats. Which interestingly enough, eat their own kind. They’re one of the few species of cannibalistic bats.
So, do with that information what you will. I don’t know whether this was intentional or not, but very interesting symbolism if so…
