Oonagh swung Wren around to find the king of Gevra standing at the edge of the cliff, looking worse than Wren had ever seen him. And that really was saying something. Yet, despite his weakness, she could tell be the smudges of dirt on his cheeks and the grass stains on his trousers that somehow, Alarik Felsing had dragged himself up those cliffs.
Wren felt herself smile.
Alarik, for all his suffering, smiled back.

I am VERY excited to share this wonderful piece with you all!!
For those who don't know by now, I might be VERY Alarik biased ๐๐ (I mean how could I not?! Do you see this face?!! ๐โ๏ธ)
Let me tell you, I BAWLED my eyes out when I read this scene because it was so simple, yet so beautiful๐ and immediately went to find an artist who could bring it to life!! And @im_arc was the perfect choice!
I hope this illustration will push many other readers to go and read the final installment of the Twin Crowns Trilogy!! ๐
But do not worry! This might be the conclusion to Wren and Rose's story, but two spin-offs about two known beloved characters are on their way!!
We will return to this world in the future!! โจ๏ธ
โค๏ธโจHere's to the authors who craft worlds worth getting lost in, and to the fans who keep the magic aliveโจโค๏ธ
โก This fanart is to celebrate the final book & the characters featured, so please keep comments respectful, thank you!

And a beautiful young wrangler who will make Alarik's heart melt!!! Can't wait to meet her!!!
With Tor gone from Gevra, I had a feeling Alarik would need a new wrangler/soldier for his army. And I was right!! A female wrangler!!
Even though I don't know anything about her, I STILL LOVE HER ALREADY!! Maybe even more than I ever liked Wren!!
I will support this novel with all my might!!
Alarik and his girl will have a swoony and epic romance and i cannot wait to read it!!
Ofc it's still a very long way to go, but if we get official art this or next year, I'll definitely commission MANY artworks for them!! They are my OTP now!!!

Now that BURNING CROWNS has been out for a few weeks, I am seeing more and more reviews and reader discussions about itโboth positive and negative. Most of the negatives though, are expressing disappointment about Wren's endgame.
Obviously, I cannot change anyone's mindโeach to their ownโ I, too, was disappointed that Wren did not end up with Alarik. HOWEVER, after gaining some much-needed insight, I was able to move on and feel much better about the conclusion.
Because this information helped me, I wanted to share them with everyone else who relates. What I want most is to continue supporting the authors and their work, and I hope this perspective helps others do the same.
Shortly before the US release date, there was an online interview where the authors shared insights behind the trilogy. Catherine Doyle especially addressed Wren's endgame, explaining that โshe ultimately ends up with who is best for her, her journey and her happy endingโ.
It was mentioned that Wrenโs happy ending required someone who made her soft, and we can all agree Tor did that. While many of us preferred Wren to be herself with Alarik, the choice of Tor makes sense given the authors' intention to soften Wrenโs character. Tor was always planned as her ultimate partner from the very beginning. They added a love triangle with Alarik to create some complexity, but Wren was always meant to be with Tor.
Moreover, the actual message of the books is sisterhood, with the sisters now united and ruling together, side by side with their loved ones, proves to be the only plausible and perfect happy ever after for them.
The authors also mentioned that it will all make sense once we know every character's journey and that the decisions regarding Wren and Alarikโs endgames will be the best for them. We will understand everything once we know all the stories and see the bigger picture.
I cannot wait to see Alarik's journey and the ending he deserves. Even though I love Wren, I am ready to let her go.

About Alarikโs novel and his potential new love interest:
While it may be challenging to envision a different outcome for Alarik, given the build-up between him and Wren, trusting in the authors' vision and their dedication to craft the most suitable and best possible ending for each character is key.
Remember, sometimes the wrong person leads us to the right one. The quote, "if I can love the wrong person that much, imagine how much I can love the right person," is a perfect fit that makes me think Alarik's first failed romance will lead to a brighter future and an even more fulfilling love story that's truly meant for him.
Knowing that Catherine has a special affection for writing Alarik's character and is committed to giving him a fulfilling conclusion reassures me. The passion an author has for a character can be felt by readers. Even though he was only a side character with about 20-30% relevance in the trilogy, Alarik captured many hearts. And now, we are getting an entire book focused on him. Itโs incredible to think about!
Understanding the behind-the-scenes reasoning and the authors' thoughts has made it easier for me to accept the ending of BURNING CROWNS, and moving forward allows me to support Alarik's future novel with everything I have.
I am confident that Catherine will create an ending for Alarik that's much superior than what could have been with Wren, showcasing his growth and finding true happiness in a way that will satisfy all readers.
Together, we can appreciate the depth and richness of the world theyโve created and celebrate the characters we love, as we look forward to the exciting adventures that await.
I sincerely hope these insights help more readers who are feeling the same way. Please, letโs continue to support our best-selling authors with all our might. Letโs do it for Alarik and Marino, too! Their journeys are just beginning, and we have the opportunity to see them shine in their own stories.
I got another Wren x Alarik scenario. But it's so short I doubt I'll be able to make a full fanfic out of it.
But imagine this....
Alarik got into a bad hailstorm. We know he hates them, maybe he's even afraid of them, after his fathers died in one.
Now, imagine huge hailstones, that really hurt and might knock someone out, falling from the sky hitting Alarik. He's sitting on the ground trying miserable to block them with his hands but he knowd that this is his end. He thinks about all the things he's done, everything he still wanted to do etc. you know the usual monolog right before you die.
BUT the pain never comes because when he looks up he sees Wren with one arm raised above her head using magic to shield them. Her other arm extended to invite him to get up. She smiles at him.
She tells something cocky about how clichรฉ it would be to die the same way as his dad, etc. but Alarik isn't even paying attention. He was so certain that this was his end, that he never imagined seeing her again.
Without saying anything he grabs her other hand and pulls himself up. Then when he was standing tall again he gazes down at her. Wren looked into his eyes, still smiling, but slightly concerned why he hadn't reacted.
"Are you o-" Wren started, but her words where cut of by Alarik's lips on her own. He signed into the kiss, realizing that she was indeed real and it wasn't a dream. Goosebumps formed on Wren's body and her knees grew weak after feeling his passionate, gentle kiss. She leaned in. Using her once raised hand to cup his cheek to deepen the kiss. His hands grabbed her waist, carefully gripping her flesh, like she might disappear if he let her slip out of his fingers. The touch made Wren shiver and her mouth parted to let him i-
A loud thud. Then pain.
Both gasped and broke apart. Hailstones.
They were getting hit by hailstones. But why? Wren was using her magic - oh.
After the realization, Wren once again raised her arms into the air, creating a magic force to shield them.
Her face burned. She melted into his kiss, completely forgetting what she was doing.
She risked a glance his way. Alarik was standing just as close as before, only now was he grabbing his shoulder. That's were he got hit by the hailstone.
"Sorry..." Wren said, ashamed for getting him injured even though she wanted to do the opposite. When her eyes found his face she noticed he wasn't directly looking at her.
His eyes were lingering on her lips and a smirk was forming on his. His canines were showing. Oh how much she hated and loved them. His intense stare made Wren's cheeks heat up even more. She averted her gaze from his.
"I- You distracted me." She muttered breathlessly.
Next thing she noticed, were footsteps positioning themselves behind her. Looking down to the snow-covered ground, she saw a larger shadow intertwine itself with her own.
"Then stay focused next time," was the last thing she heard before feeling his warm breath against her neck.
