Single Arm Planche? Plank? I don’t know what to call this, but it’s a trick I stole from my old days of burlesque, only I’m focusing on getting more into the horizontal plane. It’s not obvious, but one arm is bent and the elbow is tucked into my hip. I like to tell folks, "elbow yourself in the ovary!" The other hand is taking about 10-30% of bodyweight, depending on how stable I am. It wasn’t until I really visualized the superficial back-line and connected my spinal erectors to my hamstrings that I was able to get adequate glute activation to hold the plank together. If your glutes aren’t contracting, you’ll never get this one. Right now 35 seconds is my record (as of last night!) but it took me weeks to just get a 1-2 second hold. #rearchain #superficialbackline #anatomytrains #glutes #getglutes #calisthenics #bodyweight exercise #advancedplanking #planks #balance #core #corestrength #bkbchicago #bkblove #chicagowestlooptrainer #chicagotrainer (at Brooklyn Boulders Chicago) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpIPzE6HD9q/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wxfcxu7l183a
