Let's hear some happy things about EA! What was your favorite part of filming the FLAG video (behind the scenes or otherwise)?
Even though it's taken on a life of its own as something that doesn't seem like it belongs, the lettuce-throwing at one of the men-in-drag really was hilarious! Ben, the actor playing the young man in the Ophelia costume, used to be Darren Bousman's assistant (when we worked on The Devil's Carnival) and Darren was all too excited to chuck produce at him, and we were all practically biting through our lips to keep from laughing and ruining the shot.Let's see, though. In general, everything I was around to watch being filmed was beautiful. The video was really ambitious for a two-day shoot, but everything that needed to be accomplished...was. And brilliantly. Darren and Emilie both worked amazingly, under the intense pressure, and the result - even just the little I was fortunate enough to see, while they were starting to edit it together, on set - is going to be immense.I think my favourite story might be how worried my sister and I got for the Plague Rats who came to the filming and got to watch a lot of the stage stuff, in-between their scenes, getting the wrong idea from what they were seeing as the "end" of the song. The stage stuff we were filming had Emilie and two of her girls (Tess and Maggots) liberating our young male Ophelia and then killing two of the Asylum's ~evil~ orderlies (played by our First AD, Josh, and the choreographer, Nito - who, fun fact, also worked on The Devil's Carnival) and then dancing the rest of the song away, until the very end when the Warden (played by Dayton Callie, AKA TDC's Ticket-Keeper) and Orderly #3 (played by dreamy little Marc Senter) stormed on stage to recapture the escaped inmates and drag them back to their cells. After all that, at the end of a song called "Fight Like A Girl", Emilie and her girls get defeated?? Well, no. There's a snippet that comes after that bit and I don't want to say what it is because that would be a spoiler, but I assure you, it ends in the opposite of defeat. So, fear not, any PRs who might have been doubtful or worried by what you were seeing! There IS a happy ending in sight. :DBehind-the-scenes, I'd have to say it was just good spending time with the people I've sort of come to think of as my family. And meeting new people! We had the pleasure of meeting Mildred, of Mother of London, and she is an AMAZING talent, so that was just like...mind-blowing. Aaand, what else? OH! Rat snuggling. As the animal wrangler, I also got to procure two rats for the video and they were quite precious. Having a snugglefest with them and Emilie, when the first day began, was wonderful and a very clear reminder of how happy I am to do the things I do for the people I love.
Hey! I just wanted to say hello and that you were an awesome PR wrangler at the shoot. I don't know which one of the many people you were that we encountered, but each one of you was absolutely lovely. Thank you for taking the time to take care of us while doing the rest of your job as well :)
Oh, thank you, sweetie! I'm Courtney, I'm the one who was in and out a lot and shouting sometimes, but genuinely happy to see all of you, I assure you. ♥Thank you so much for coming out and being a part of the video. I know it meant the world to Emilie to have such beautiful, amazing fans there and it really meant a lot to me and my sister, Peaches, (who also helped wrangle you folks) that you were all so lovely and happy and fun!
