They all stay "Basic" until they become who they're meant to be. Basic is usually how Alex looks now.

Very rarely do certain people of this species not change from Basic. Some would consider not changing throughout life a very spiritual thing to have happen to you, though most of Alex's species feel it is abnormal and odd.

Alex is one of very, very few that don't change from the Basic form. His family supports him, but the chaos and drama of the outside world is what causes him to meet Genni, the green boi.

Alex learns that sticking up for people is always best, even if they were an asshole to you. Yes, that's not a great way to live, but he would hate anyone to feel the way he is made to feel for being permanently Basic. Most of his friendships that are made, by either that way or other ways, are usually discontinued because of them either becoming who they are meant to be or it being too embarrassing to be around a "late bloomer".

Him and Genni meet when Genni is being spoken down to by a group of Alex's kind, telling him that he shouldn't be on the planet because Genni's species isn't as large or powerful as most species. Alex overhears and almost doesn't act, for he's given up on trying to save others at that point.

But he sees Genni. He hears him say that being the special one isn't always necessary. That he can be a small stupid species and no one should care, whether or not he asked for it.
