*Malgendering is when you are gendered correctly, but in a very negative way. It especially applies to when people only gender you correctly to be negative, but it applies to other situations as well. Some examples include things like “it’s okay to hit you because you’re a man” or “I know you’re a not a woman because you suck at relationships.” It can happen to both trans mascs and trans femmes (such as when people act like trans women should be grateful to have misogyny aimed at them because they’re correctly being gendered), this poll just happens to be aimed at trans mascs.

yesterday before school, my daughter introduced me to one of her classmates, there with his mom and a blanket-covered stroller, and told me he speaks Spanish. I want to start talking in Spanish with my neighbors: I know enough, it would be a good way to learn more, and white people should be kind and welcoming, especially to little kids. but something distracted me, then I felt shy, like the chance had passed, and didn't say anything.
later, at the weed store, the woman working was really extra friendly, and then called me "Mr Wevvy." I got caught up in the mechanics of transaction, then I felt shy, and didn't say anything.
I went for a run and thought to myself, I'm going to take the next chance I get to say something to one of my neighbors in Spanish, and I'm going to give chill people a chance to be chill and affirming to me.
this morning, I saw a tiny hand grabbing the edge of the blanket covering the stroller. I stepped over, kneeled down, and asked, "¿Es tu hermano? ¿Cómo se llama?" as we talked, my daughter came over after a second and said "Dada, he can understand English!" I replied, "I thought it would be nice for him to talk in Spanish. Y me gusta practicar."
later, I swung by the weed store and saw the same woman working. when she gave me my change, I said, "Yesterday you looked at my ID and called me Mr Wevvy. I wanted to tell you it's actually Mrs Wevvy." she was really happy I told her and thanked me.
