βBrain sexβ shit.
βTrans men are men because they have male brains, trans women are women because they have female brainsβ shut up, brain sex has been debunked
βSee, my theory isnβt exclusionist towards nonbinary people because those people have intersex brainsβ shut up, brain sex has been debunked, and also thatβs not what intersex means
βI used to be a transphobe, but now I learned that transgender people have brains that match the sex theyβre transitioning toβ oh wow. so youβre saying that you used to believe there has to be strict biological differences between genders, but now you believe that there has to be strict biological differences between genders? fascinating, tell me more
Also the implication by brain sex proponents that genderfluidity isnβt real. Because βyour brain canβt switch between having a male structure and having a female structureβ. Oh, and that xenogenders arenβt real because βyour brain sex canβt be βcupcakeββ
Brain sex proponents are wild to me. And when you show them the studies showing that there arenβt measurable differences in the brains of people with different genders and that early studies that found otherwise had too small a sample size, theyβre like βbutβ¦ butβ¦ thatβs my emotional support bioessentialism!! π₯Ίβ
This is varsexism and transphobia, and especially intersexist, transsexist, and exorsexist.
First of all - All studies on these "brain differences" show that the difference between mulleripathian and wolffipathian [link] brains is super small and inconclusive, and the differences likely actually develop due to how different people are treated based on gender roles (ie; how people raised as "sons" often are given less physical affection), rather than an actual natural biological development.
Second of all - These studies are done to such specific strict groups of people, that they do not reflect the generalized population in the slightest.
Third of all - Sex =/= gender. What about cisgender transsex people? What about transgender cissex people? Not everyone's sex and gender "align."
Fourth of all - Conflating intersex [link] with non-binary plays into the stereotypes that intersex people cannot be men or women. Yes, non-binary intersex people exist, and yes, non-binary people with "in-between" genders exist, but intersex people are not inherently non-binary, nor does being intersex or non-binary always mean "in-between."
Fifth of all - "Brain intersex" is a real thing, just not in the way these people think. It's called Secondary Hypogonadism/Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism, which is when the brain isnβt sending as many signals as it typically would to the gonads (or related organs) to create sex hormones. The "brain intersex" narrative is intersexist both because it treats sex and gender as the same, and non-binary and intersex as the same, but also because it leads people to exclude people who are actually intersex because of their brain.
Sixth of all - As you pointed out, it is transmultiphobic and xenicphobic, because it erases genderfluid, genderflux, and xenogender people.
