It's a Girl
In India, China and many other parts of the world today, girls are killed, aborted and abandoned simply because they are girls. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls(1) are missing in the world today because of this so-called “gendercide”.
Girls who survive infancy are often subject to neglect, and many grow up to face extreme violence and even death at the hands of their own husbands or other family members.
The war against girls is rooted in centuries-old tradition and sustained by deeply ingrained cultural dynamics which, in combination with government policies, accelerate the elimination of girls.
Shot on location in India and China, It’s a Girl reveals the issue. It asks why this is happening, and why so little is being done to save girls and women.
The film tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters’ lives, and of other mothers who would kill for a son. Global experts and grassroots activists put the stories in context and advocate different paths towards change, while collectively lamenting the lack of any truly effective action against this injustice.
VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED
This film is not-rated (NR) by the MPA, MPAA, or any other film rating system. Due to the nature of the film’s content discussing gendercide, infanticide, and global human rights violations, viewer discretion is advised.
It’s really important that as we support human rights for all humans we don’t forget about girls who are being abandoned or killed for their gender.
In many places girls are killed right after birth, and in places where abortion is accessible, they are killed as soon as the gender can be determined.
All life has value, and the concept that a child can be killed because they don’t measure up to what the parents wanted is one that should be rejected.
At the same time, there are societal, political, and cultural factors that lead these parents to fear having a girl, and those need to change.
Just wanted to remind you what mainstream feminism means.
She wasn’t kicked off of Twitter for this.

In her address to the 1995 United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China, the late Prime Minister of Pakistan — and pro-life feminist — Benazir Bhutto (1953-2007) explained, "To please her husband, a woman wants a son. To keep her husband from abandoning her, a woman wants a son. And, too often, when a woman expects a girl, she abets her husband in abandoning or aborting that innocent, perfectly formed child. As we gather here today, the cries of the girl child reach out to us."
Bhutto, the first woman to lead a democratic majority-Muslim nation, challenged delegates attending the conference "...to chart a course that can create a climate where the girl child is as welcomed and valued as a boy child, that the girl child is considered as worthy as a boy child." They still cry out — and so do their mothers.
On this eve of what would have been Bhutto's 67th birthday, let us support parents and celebrate the birth of every girl, as well as every boy, because they are equally precious.

In addition to the fact that abortion is inherently misogynistic and oppressive, as it dehumanizes us when we are young so that others can get away with killing us so feminism absolutely requires the abolition of abortion (also, unborn females have their own uteri and their own ovaries), there is also sex selective abortion which kills unborn females just for being female. This happens all around the world. In countries where it happens more than others, there are a lot more males than females, which leads to girls being kidnapped and forced into marriage at young ages. Many privileged “feminists” claim that it’s a pregnant person’s right to kill the unborn just for being female if that’s what they want because any reason to kill unborn humans is valid. That isn’t feminism, it’s misogyny.
That explains why she’s a rabid man-hater.
